Redlight/Speed Cameras in DC

In an article in The Washington Post this morning, May 28th, there is a 3/4 page article on Page 1 & 40% of Page 2, entitled "A DC thoroughfare littered with cameras - and cash."
The are is described a an "Anenue of gold" & says that from 2011 to April 11, 2013, redlight & speed cameras along New York Ave have generated 243,280 tickets, resulting in revenue for the DC government of $28,216,477. It gave a break down of earnings from each camera. A very nice piece of change.
It lists 5 speed & 5 redlight cameras along Route 50 (New York Ave) coming into the District from near the National Arboretum & terminating at 15th Street near the White House.

2. Southbound DC 295 0.7 mi south of Exit 1
3. Westbound, 600 block New York Ave
4. Northbound DC 0.3 mi south of Exit 1
5. Southeast bound 2200 block South Dakota Ave
6. Eastbound 2200 block K St
7. Eastbound 3500 block Massachussetts Ave
8. Southbound DC 295 0.4 mi south of Burroughs
9. Northbound DC 295 at Benning Rd
10. Northbound 1900 block Branch Ave

I'm surprised the revenue hasn't tapered off as people got wise to the cameras.

Wow, that must be one of the safest sections of road in the entire country!!
Those cameras are for our safety, you know.
