Hawaii beaches

I'm off to Maui in July. Second trip. My Magellan GPS came in very useful on my last visit in 2011. I didn't have a list of beaches on my GPS, so finding the recommended beach locations from my guide book was difficult.

What are your favourite beaches in Maui (or any Hawaiian island)? I'll begin by saying Makena and Black Rock were two that I enjoyed very much.

Are Hawaii beaches available as a POI download for my Magellan Roadmate 3030?

Been a while since my last

Been a while since my last visit, but I recall the Kihei area and the Kaanapoli area were nice. Note, just because it is a hotel property you can still use their beach, as we did repeatedly. Just buy one of their expensive cokes, to show your appreciation.

Re: Beaches in Maui

Hi

We were there this past year. Numbers 1 and 2 on
our beach list are: Big Beach (1 mile long sand beach,
nude beach is located due north of Big Beach)
and the Aquarium (fish, turtles, etc).
Both are due south of Kihei on Maui.

Big Beach (Makena Beach) Southeast Maui HI:
20°37'52.85"N,156°26'47.89"W

It has 2 parking lots.

The Aquarium Beach is in the State Park se Maui HI:
20°36'50.85"N,156°26'12.59"W

in the Ahihi Kinau Natural Area.

Also keep in mind that there are many beaches right at Kihei (no need to travel).

There are numerous surfing beaches on the north end of
Maui, just east of the airport.

Remember whatever we recommend, you have to adjust
your thinking to whatever the current surf conditions
are. Last winter we saw high surf conditions while we
were on Maui and the Big Island.

Second, what are you looking for in the beach? Most
people think sand and no surf. Others may want higher
surf, snorkeling or surfing opportunities. Others want food and beer close by.

You can use Google Earth to locate the beach coords.

Enjoy your stay and try to stay out of the VOG

Turtle Town

Snorkeling is my favorite beach activity. There's an area called Turtle Town. I think it's off the Makena beach point. However, I think there are multiple dive/snorkeling spots that collectively are referred to as Turtle Town.

Can anyone shed light on this?
