Hello All,

Was hoping someone could help as I am new to managing POIs. I have subscribed and downloaded the camera and speed cam POI files and wanted to know how they get activated on my Garmin for use. I have installed them into the device using the POI loader and wanted to confirm how I will now see them.

When I used a TomTom, the traffic camera signal would pop up on the screen and make an annoying sound so you knew one was there and about to come up. How does it work on the Garmin? Will I get the same type of alert or will it just show some type of Icon on the route that I need to pay attention to?

Appreciate any help/advice on this...

Welcome to The Factory.

When loaded to your Garmin devce with POI Loader, the default alert is a boing, and the icon is a dot.

But you can add a Custom icon and a Custom alert sound. Read up on the procedures, the ask if questions arise:

PS--post a message at least once a week and soon you'll have your windmill. With a windmill or double-star, you'll have free access to the redlight/speed POI files.

Much appreciated CraigW and I guess I have some tweaking to do in order to get it to behave like my old TomTom!

One additional question: I am using a Mac - is there a MAC equivalent to SOX to handle the addition of the audio files with the Garmin POI Loader or does this all have to be handled on Windows?

From what we read here, sox.exe or a Mac equivalent are not needed. Apparently POI Loader will load wav files on a Mac to your nuvi with no extra effort needed.
