Extra Files

Although there are files on my 650 Garmin, they do not appear when I open Basecamp with GPS attached to my Mac?

File names

Can you help us out here? What files do you believe are not showing up on Basecamp? Do you have any names? I assume you see these files when you look at the 650 as an external drive when attached to your Mac.

.

If you see your GPS, try clicking on internal storage.

Extra Files

I have downloaded National Parks and Cross Country Trips and they appear on my Zumo 650. When I connect the Zumo to my Mac and open Garmin Basecamp, I see my Garmin maps as well as the Micro SD, but I don't see the National Parks and Cross Country Trips.

Where did the map come from?

I Googled "National Parks and Cross Country Trips" but can't find it. Can you share a link to your download so we know what you have? Is it a map, a set of POIs, or ???

The files came from this

The files came from this site and are stored in Extras section of my Zumo 650. When I have the GPS disconnected from my Mac, I have no trouble seeing the files and routes, etc. It's just that they do not appear in Basecamp (Zumo GPS) when it is attached to my Mac.

Ah, they're Custom Points of Interest. I don't think that Custom POIs display in Mapsource or BaseCamp. There may be a work-around to get them to work. Let's see if someone with experience in this matter offers some help.

Gamin nuvi/Zumo Favorites can be displayed in BaseCamp and Mapsource, but to my knowledge, not Custom POIs.

A gpi file is not supported

A gpi file is not supported by Mapsource or BaseCamp to transfer. No problem with favorites(gpx).

Supported files are gpx, gdb, kml, kmz, jpeg, loc and tcx

You can transfer any custom poi gpx files you have on your computer. To see, modify or etc. Select under file import into My Collection

Thank you all.

Thank you all.

BaseCamp does support .GPI files

Actually, the latest version of BaseCamp (4.1.2) does support GPI files for DISPLAY of custom Points of Interest. It is on the Find menu. Select "Find Points of Interest", then in the drop down box in the right pane, select "Custom POI's". You can't use BaseCamp to transfer .gpi files back to the nuvi though.
