RV packed, ready, then lightning struck

That's right, our motorhome was fully packed and loaded for departure the next morning. We had storms in STL or we would have slept in it to get an earlier start. Good thing we did not since the tree next to it and the RV were struck by lightning. It disabled the RV so no travels for awhile. Bummer.....

46 Senators Who Voted to turn your gun rights over to the UN

Over the weekend, we were four votes away from the United States senate giving our constitutional rights over to the United Nations. In a 53-46 vote, the senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The Statement of Purpose from the bill read:

To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S. , and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.

Astonishingly, 46 of our senators were willing to give away our constitutional rights to a foreign power.

Here are the senators that voted to give your rights to the U.N.:

Baldwin (D-WI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Bennet (D-CO)
Blumenthal (D-CT)
Boxer (D-CA)

Sad Day

Best wishes to all for a fast recovery of those affected on that day. This act was Evil. 15 seconds of terror for a life time of pain. Help bring to justice all.

Boston -

Prayers go out to all Americans whose lives were forever changed by the cowardly acts of terrorism at the Boston Marathon. Words can not express what you and everyone else in this great country must be feeling.

I hope the perpetrators of this unspeakable crime will be swiftly brought to justice.

Please, take of each other and may God Bless America.

woohoo

as i get older time seems to pass much more quickly.. to wit, it is a new week again!

Tax man forgot to do my taxes...

Yup, and now he has to file for an extension. First time ever this has happened. Had them in, in plenty of time.

Death Valley Prices!!!

Went camping last week. Had HUGE winds for several days. Ended up spending a few days in Death Valley. There are two places to buy supplies when camping in the park. One is actually IN the park and the other one seems to be just a hair outside the park.

At Stovepipe Wells the prices are high but are regulated by the parks department. Beer is around $10 a six pack. Not super outrageous.

At Furnace Creek the prices are NOT regulated by the parks department. Beer - any brand of beer - is $13.75 a six pack. Soda is $9.50 a six pack. Small cans of propane - such as is used for lanterns and camp stoves - normally sells in "regular" stores for anywhere from $3.50 - $5.00 a bottle. At Furnace Creek it is a whopping $13.50 a bottle.

Moral of the story: If camping or sightseeing in Death Valley either bring plenty of supplies with you or go over to Stovepipe Wells to do your shopping!
