NUVI 2555LMT Traffic Info In Toronto

I just got a NUVI 2555LMT and I was recently in the west end of Toronto and expected to get traffic data. I got the Green Traffic Icon, which is supposed to mean that I am receiving a signal and traffic is good. Yellow Means that moderate Traffic, etc. If there is no signal, the ICON is Gray.

When I touched the icon I got a screen that had showed info available about Traffic Conditions and Traffic Legend.

I also had the following message: "The traffic receiver is not receiving a traffic signal. The traffic signal may be weak, or traffic data may not be available for your location." This statement seems to contradict the colour code for the Icon. Now I don't know if the message is wrong, or if the Icon Colour is wrong.

I get the identical green Icon and message, when I am at my home in Kitchener, Ontario that should have either a very weak signal or no signal.

As you can appreciate, I am having difficulty getting Garmin to fully understand that I'm simply trying to find out if I should or should not being receiving traffic in Toronto, or if there is an issue with the NUVI 2555LMT.

Things changed

I have a 2595. At some point things changed. The icon used to change from green when traffic signal was good to gray when it's lost or out of date. -Now-, it stays green no matter what is going on with the signal. As soon as you plug it in and the application comes up you get a green icon. If you touch the traffic icon you'll see it giving the "searching signal" message and no bars. I know this is the case because in the past, when I went to Maine out in the boonies where there was no signal the icon would turn gray indicating no data. It's green all the time now and will actually -stay- green for a little while even after unplugging the receiver from the Nuvi. I actually believe that if you plug in your Nuvi in say: GREENLAND, you'll get the green icon. Go figure.

Time to Escalate This At Garmin

I had information form one Garmin Tech Guy that gave me a link to escalate this request. After reading what williston says, I think it's time to do so.

I will wait a couple of more days and see what response i get from my fourth attempt and to see what other feedback I get.

I have a question for williston: Can you recall about when this change occurred? It might help Garmin to sort this out.

I believe DorkusNimrod mentioned this had happened awhile back after a firmware upgrade. You'll have to talk to him for the specifics.

Cheers smile

P.S. Found this 2 year old thread so the "bug" has been around some time http://www.poi-factory.com/node/32884

Works OK

Just got back from a trip to Michigan via Toronto and this time the Nuvi 2555 LMT did not try and get me to go on the collectors. Got traffic and junction views too.
Things are looking up. shock

I have the 2595LMT and never

I have the 2595LMT and never had success with the traffic, in fact, we don't use it really. It's good news to hear it is helpful for others, though.
