Here are two apps that work well on the Android tablets for watching movies and TV. Hulu Plus https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hulu.plus&.....

I sometimes connect the TV to the Tablet to get the larger screen.

I believe neither HULU or Crackle are free? In that case I will add NETFLIX ($8 per month) to your list.
I have a NETFLIX subcription and I can access movies on my SAMSUNG tablet. I recently watched a movie with my grandchildren on my Tablet using NETFLIX.

Hulu on Android does have a fee after the trail. Crackle is free and one other one I forgot was Veetle is free https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.veetle.and... . Hulu does have Hulu Desktop not Hulu Plus for pc free. I have that on my laptop and use it.

I had planed on doing that with my tablet until I replaced one of my DVD players with a Sony player that has WiFi, it also has all of the mentioned services available plus more. You do have to have either a router or an Ethernet connection to make it work. Just thought I'd mention it for anyone not already owning a tablet and not being familiar with the WiFi players. The average cost of a good tablet goes $200.00 plus. I gave $99.99 for the Sony. The player isn't as versatile as a tablet but it's a lot cheaper.
Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

Movies
The trouble with most of the apps is the extra cost of the increased data downloaded. A movie is typically about 2GB/hour. Netflix may be only $8/month, but if I watched only a movie/night that's pushing 100GB/month. For me that's close to $100 in extra data costs.

I use the "Tablet TV Free" on my BB Playbook. Tons of free stuff to watch. I can use WiFi, or a tethered connection anywhere.
