Speed Trap Exchange

Just saw on AOL an article re the top ten cities for speed traps in the US and a site that tracks them. The top ten are:

1. Detroit, Mich. suburbs 2. Colorado Springs, Colo. 3. Houston, Texas 4. Orlando, Fla. 5. Nashville, Tenn. 6. Ann Arbor, Mich. 7. Albuquerque, N.M. 8. Washington, D.C. 9. Denver, Colo. 10. Virginia Beach, Va.

Aricle states: "There are more than 10,000 postings total on the site, 2,000 of which are from Texas," said Aaron Quinn, the site's communication director. "Detroit's suburbs have more than 100 postings."

The article further states: The purpose of the Speed Trap Exchange is to draw attention to areas where speed limits are arbitrarily low and to let people know about variations in enforcement of speed limits between different regions.

Site address: http://www.speedtrap.org/

I checked my local City and it listed one I can verify is on the level as I use to personaly take Rookies there and teach them how to run radar traps.

This could be an excellent site to gather POIs. Supposed to have around 10,000 locations listed by State.

Anyone familiar with this org. Jake

I will check it out

I will get a hold of that organization and see if it would be ok to post their data. I think this would be a good POI to have on the site also. I will let you know what I find out.

Miss Poi

results are....

I got a hold of one of the staff members and he is going to check it out with his team to see if it is ok. I will get a call back from him next week.

This will be one of those opportunities to exercise our reciprocity skills by supplying them with a copy of our work to put up on their site for their users to take advantage of.

Miss Poi

It would be great to get

It would be great to get their data.

Speed Traps

My wife sent me the link to the Web Site Last week and it is accurate - but there is one Speed Trap I I pass through everyday and it is not listed.

I am courious how the data was obtained and how often are the locations updated - now this is out there maybe "Big Brother" will relocate their "Traps".

This is an excellent source for updating the Traffic Camera POI and Speed Trap POI.
