2460 LMT routing errors and very late turn notifications.

Hi all. I just returned from a trip from Florida to Texas, and I'll have to say that I was not pleased with the overall performance of the 2460lmt. I updated the map prior to my trip just to make sure that if there had been any road changes, that I would have them. On at least three separate occasions, 2 in the Dallas / Fort Worth area and 1 in Houston, the GPS would not tell me to exit to a new road until I was past the exit. It also on a few occasions verbally told me to keep right when I should be keep left or vice versa. I have never had this issue with the old Nuvi 680, so I am curious if it is an issue with the model or the new map update. Has anyone else experienced these issues either with this unit or with the new map update? I have also noticed that the routing that the unit uses is not exactly the best route. I normally build my routes in advance, and on those the unit seemed to work fine. It was just on the on the fly trips that wasn't preplanned where the problems seemed to occur. TIA
Some thoughts
I haven't seen this but my 2460 is quite new so I'll hold off on saying that mine is going to be fine. I do have the latest map update.
I do have a couple thoughts:
First, there was a recent update for this series that you can install through WebUpdater:

Change History
Changes made from version 3.10 to 3.20:
Fixed an error that caused searches using international characters to omit some results.
Fixed an error that caused a long delay when searching for addresses in the Ukraine.
Fixed several errors with the Trip Planner.
Fixed an error that caused the wrong speed limits to display in some areas.
Fixed an error that caused the device to freeze when routing through roundabouts on 3rd-party maps.
Fixed an error that caused route calculation times to lengthen over time.
Fixed an error that caused search subcategories to not display for some 3rd-party POI files.
Updated battery charging mode to comply with new California energy regulations.
Second, you can try one or a variety of these that will put a lesser load on your 2460--clear your Trip Log (page 50), disable the various myTrends, ecoRoute and other features:

Do you have a lot of TourGuide POI files? I can see where a lot may conceivably add to the burden of the devices processor.

It may be the 2013.30 maps. I've also seen errors and late turn notifications in a few places in Toronto. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/38350 for lane assist errors in Arizona and Toronto.

I had all kinds of problems
I had all kinds of problems with my 2460 and I finally convinced garmin to exchange it. I just got it back and am setting it up. We'll see,
Maps are incorrect
On my 2555 since loading the latest map, I have some directional errors. For instance when going to work (been at this location for about 5 years) as I'm entering the parking lot (Jill) tells me the location is on my left when it is certainly on my right (didn't used to be this way). I'm in Toronto by the way. Several times going to new destinations I've had it tell me to go left when the enterance was on the right (and vice versa). This leeds me to believe the maps are wrong.

wonder if the problem

I wonder if the problem may be related to Canadian politics. As the unit is working it may be leaning toward Labor and that's causing the problem.

Haven't done much with the new set of maps but ...
... I've been very happy with my 2460. I've had it almost 2 years and have used it extensively, both locally and long distance. I've had an occasional short "off the main route excursion" but that's been rare. Calc time has always been reasonable and the routes it calculated were good. About the only objection I have with it is the time it takes to start up, seems to take forever to get to the map when powering up. I've never had an issue with it giving me turn instructions too late.

Happy
We have done about 10,000 miles of long trips and probably another 4-5000 of shorter trips in the last 2 years using our 2460 and have been very happy with it. I think we are currently one map update behind the current one, I usually only update when we are taking a significant trip out of our area. A few times I wasn't paying close enough attention when multiple intersection are close and turn on the wrong one but it is operator error. We take a lot od secondary roads and I have to know when to ignore shortcuts occasionally when it thinks it is saving me time cutting down small side streets in towns when the main route changes directions in the middle of town.
Construction
I do know that there is a lot of freeway construction here in the Dallas area and, even with the newest maps, I have to pay attention. Ramps have been closed and moved so I end up listening for what road I want and then start looking for exit signs as I wouldn't depend on that ramp being where the GPS says it is.
