I am not familiar with the Tom Tom gps and a friend that has one wants to get started with POIs. The loading part I can figure out, but he doesn't want alerts. When he's in a given area he will want to just be able to look up the closest POI such as a restaurant chain etc. So my question is where does he go in the menus to look a POI up?

Tap the middle of the screen to summon the main menu, then choose
Navigate to... > Point of Interest > POI near you
That will show
- the "Search POI" option (to search by POI name in all categories),
- the four most recently used POI categories, and
- the [right arrow] icon to view and search for categories by name.
