Loading POI's into RM7710

Any body thinking about a rand macnally 7710 then think about something else. On my garmin I can load all the POI's at once. On the RM you have to load them one at a time. What I mean by that is under restaurants you have to load each brand separately. Such as Cracker Barrell, then go to the next one then the next and so on......then you have to plug in the gps to the power supply while it installs them. It takes hours and hours to accomplish this. Then to access them you have to scroll down to find what you are looking for and it puts them in alphabetical order and does not separate the gas stations from restaurants so if you look for amaco then texaco there are hundreds of entries between them. It is very clunky to maneuver. I hate the fact that I bought the hype about this unit......I think it will be the Edsel of the gps's.....

RM7710

I guess a lot of people bought into the hype about this GPS. I did and it's not worth it. I find myself going to my Droid if I want to find something nearby or to navigate to a campground or anything. I can't afford to pay another bunch of money for another GPS.

I know your comment is very old and perhaps it is not worth replying after such a long time, but you might consider consolidating your individual poi files into combined ones. For example I have added each of my restaurant-specific poi files into a single restaurant poi file. Similarly I have included all of my favorite shopping poi files into a single shopping file and so on. This has addressed one of those problems.

There's been many updates to this GPS, mostly as a result of user input from what I've experienced. I found it to be very easy to add my POIs.
