CNE2013.3

Thanks for the Heads up.

ICC

Do we have ICC in newest version of NA map?
I saw complete ICC from I-95 to I-370 on OSM I just downloaded couple days ago.

@grzesja

I wonder if the street updates in Troy, OH that I submitted, going 3 years, will be in this one to include my street????

@jrozsnaki

Your guess is as good as mine. So far I don't see any rules with them including submitted corrections. Some people got them included in next update, sometimes it take years to updates to show on maps. Usually they got bigger streets fast, but small, residential roads can takes years to be included.

So far you can treat this as check of your luck wink

To see if a change in your area has been included.....

Go to mapquest.com! They have the most up-to-date version of the Navteq map (the one on Navteq's own website is out of date). If you see a change on mapquest that's not on your Garmin, that means that change will be included within the next 2 Garmin map updates. If it's not on mapquest yet, it'll be a little longer than that.

Garmin Nuvi 3490lmt, 765t with Lifetime maps and Clear Channel traffic

Thanks

Appreciate the information

A little off subject

I want to get another Europe Map. My last one was on cd and it it tied to my old garmin.

I think I have read this on here before but can't find it. It is so hard to find anything on here if you don't know just what to type in.

The question is if I buy a sd card will I be able to use in in another garmin if I ever get another one?

Also, can I buy the Europe map and get the lifetime with it or do I have to have it already on my unit when new to get the lifetime.

Thanks for the great help...

Yes, the maps on the SD card work in any unit.

Red and Speed camera for Europe

Does anyone know if the red light and speed camera files will work for the Europe maps. If we purchase the Europe city navigator will we be able to find out locations of red light and speed cameras?

Hello

Welcome

Welcome to The Factory.

If you install a European redlight/speed camera POI file to your nuvi 1300, you will receive alerts. Note that the redlight and speed POI files available on this site are for US and Canada locations only.

But Garmin offers their Cyclops Safety Cameras data for European countries that will give you alerts, but it requires a purchase:

http://www.garmin.com/us/extras/services/safetycamera

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=287

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=287&pID=68098

http://www.garmin.com/fr/extras/services/automobile/alertes-...

The cost for all of Europe is roughly $13.50US for a one-time download or roughly $40US for an annual subscription. There may be a free 1-month trial you could try first before buying a paid version.

Maybe someone here can point to a free Safety Camera POI file for Europe.

Yes, the maps on the SD card work in any unit.

I was going to get the free Europe Map but put one area on the unit and it wasn't like my old Europe Maps on the other unit. I will buy the sd card then have it from now on.
Thanks.

Just remember one thing about maps on SD card. If you buy maps on card they will work on any garmin GPS that is able to read them. But you will have to buy card every time you will need never map for full price. There is no option for update (either One Time or Life Time) for maps on SD card.

If you get normal map (DVD or download) then map will be limited to one device you choose but you will have option to buy cheaper updates, including Life Time Update.

So depending on your usage, you have to make a choice, what will be more acceptable for you.

Question about maps

I just looked on Amazon and the SD is $66 without lifetime.
The DVD is $89 without lifetime.
But, there is a Europe lifetime update card for $139. I don't think this includes the maps. So I would have to buy the $89 and $139 to get lifetime Europe maps on dvd?

Does this sound correct?

We only go to Europe once a year for vacation so not sure what I will do.

I bought a new Nuvi after 4 years with the old one so if I buy one every 4 years I might be better getting the sd card now and getting a new Nuvi in a couple of years with the Europe and US maps on it with lifetime updates. Should have done that this time but didn't know the dvd I bought for the old unit would not work for the new unit.

Thanks for your help.

DVD + lifetime

I think you have it right ... you would need to buy both to add Europe maps and have lifetime updates.

You might consider just buying a nuvi LMT Europe model once you are over there. Depending on the features you want, it might not be any more expensive than adding Europe maps + lifetime to your existing nuvi.

Yes, that sounds right. Your options are:

- buy the map on the SD card ($66) now, then plan on a future similar purchase if you ever want an updated map on SD. But you could easily get by without buying the latest map. The map on SD you buy now could easily be useful to you on an annual vacation for several years before you'd find the need to buy a replacement.

- buy the DVD version of the map ($89 now) and install it most likely to a SD card which will be tied to only work in a specific nuvi GPS serial number. Then for updates, the $139 lifetime update will let you update the map into the future--but if your nuvi dies or you simply decide to upgrade to a newer model, you'd need to repeat the $89 + $139 purchase for the new device.

For me if I were doing a once a year vacation to Europe and planning to use my current nuvi, I'd buy the map on SD card now and try to use it for several years into the future--and only buy a newer map on SD if I ran into problems with the older map on my last vacation. You may well never need to update the map. And as you say, you could easily plan your next nuvi purchase to be one that comes with lifetime maps of the North America and Europe and that may be better than the European DVD/lifetime_update combo purchase.

Getting larger again

Europe 2013.30 is now over 2.8GB so many devices will not have enough internal memory for it, forcing installation on the SD card (which is not a problem and doesn't visibly slow the unit based on my experience.)

@rame1012

Thanks for the MapQuest tip - I'll check it out.

edit:

Nope - just checked sad

JRoz -- DriveSmart 55 & Traffic

Take care with speed camera POI in some european countries.

As the title says:- France has decided to make the use of speed camera POIs illegal and many other countries also. OK in UK though, including red lights and speed cameras. Suggest you try a year's sub to pocketGPSworld but my 1490LMT does not get on with it so I've subscribed to the Garmin database instead. If you're going to France you'll also have to carry 2 breathalysers, but these are available in the supermarkets there.

2013.30 Europe installs but may take several tries.

Just installed to my 1490LMT but it took 4 tries.

Thanks CraigW

I think what you said about the sd card doing for several years just for a yearly trip would do. It does sound like my best option.

Thanks, and thanks everyone else for all the help.
You are all great. grin

France POI

Would you mind clarifying what you mean by breathalyyzers? Is the best solution for France to have a GPS w France maps and download the cyclops from Garmin?

Hello

Breath testing, etc. in France

This is a new requirement for drivers in France (along with a safety vest and warning triangle):

Europe 2013 Navigator and Garmin Cyclops

Does anyone know if you can use the Garmin cyclops annual subscription with a Garmin SD Europe Navigator SD card for their GPS.

thanks

POI points downloaded separately (like RLC locations) should work even if you don't have "proper" map installed. They are being activated if you are closing on them. That's why you can get warning driving on highway overpassing local road. If on local road close enough will be RLC than even if you are driving on highway overpass without RLC you will get warning.

Maps on SD are this same like any other maps. Technical difference is that they are not assigned to any device but to the card. You can move them between different units. But on minus side, they are not eligible to updates, either One Time or Life Time.

CN EU map size

For those, who are running low on space in theirs GPS there is comparison how EU maps were growing over time. You can see, if it's time to buy SD card before new version will be out.
