Uconnect 8.4n and exrtra point editor

I'm trying to get the custom poi's in my connect 8.4n. I can get them in and have the proximity alerts to work but the don't show up. I been using epe and works great but I can't get the help file to work. I'm trying to figure out what the fields in 'recalculate fieds' are I.e display. I've tried using the values true, yes, and 800 (thinking it was a map scale to display at). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you...

Did you download the file
Extra POI Editor V4.85 Help File.zip
from
http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor#toc5
and unzip it the same directory into which you placed
EPE?

Yes, the index would come up

Yes, the index would come up but none of the text associated with it.

What computer...

What computer are you using?

This is merely a guess.

Based on my brief search on Microsoft's website about this, I believe the OP is running Windows XP and has encountered this problem. What is "this problem"? One of the Windows XP security updates changes the default behavior of HTML Help files so that they cannot open information from remote locations, including the Temporary Internet Files folder.

I still had the 4.47 help file on my computer. So this was a perfect time to test my guess. I downloaded the new help file and let it overwrite the old one. Then I started EPE and accessed the help. No problems here on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.

I do have to ask though if the OP has tried downloading another copy of the help file. The one he downloaded could be corrupt.

This is what you wanted..

From the "Read me first" file that was downloaded with the help file:

CHM HELP FILES

How-to: Just put this file in the same directory as the application Extra_POI_Editor.exe

Security: Everytime you download a new .CHM file, you need to enable it on your computer. Double-Click on the file in Windows and unckeck the option: "Always ask before opening this file" and then click OK.
OR
Right-Click on the file in Windows and then click on Properties. Near the bottom of the Properties window where it says: "Security: This file came from another computer and mights be blocked to help protect this computer", click on "Unblock" and then click on OK.
Otherwise, the help will not work. CHM help files should work for Vista users.

The last two paragraphs, the ones after the "OR" is your problem. You may have to go into Control Panel and uncheck the "Display hidden files" and the three things after that before you're able to check "Unblock."
Don't forget to recheck the "Display hidden..." lines in Control Panel when you're done.

So why was I able to use the file immediately, without having to change file permissions?

I will try your suggestions

I will try your suggestions as soon as I get home. I just got to work. Thanks, I really hope these suggestions work. Also, I'm on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.
