Ecoroute MPG estimate is accurate

Ecoroute logs my last 30hrs driving and gives me an estimate MPG.
at the same time i enter into my gps miles traveled and gallons refueled whenever i fill up.

i take that file into excel and avg my mpg.

for the past 30hrs (forgot how many hundreds of gallons of gas), ecoroute calc my mpg=33.6.
the excel file says 33.5mpg

the hardware option?

In speaking of Ecoroute here, are you discussing a system with the hardware option which has a direct connection to the vehicle's diagnostic bus, or are you discussing the bit of software which for examples lives behind an ecoroute icon on my 3790, but gets nothing to work with but GPS-derived information and a user enterd city and highway mpg estimate?

Ecoroute

It really only works if you religiously enter all the info at every fill-up as well as turn the GPS on each and every time you drive your car. Forget it once for one hour, sitting with the car idling for a long time will mess it up.

archae86, NO there is no wired connection to the cars system.

Melaqueman, there are two different devices labeled Eco-Route. One is a hardware device that plugs into the OBD-II port and communicates to some models using Bluetooth and others that have a feature built in to the GPS. It sounds as if you are only familiar with the joke that is in the GPS.

.

I lost interest in this feature after only having it for two weeks - it is a novelty and too much maintenance to be worth it.

The wired device is actually called ecoRoute HD while the feature built into many newer Nuvi models is just called ecoRoute.

Yes you can, but it's not in the normal lower right side. Look to the top of your OP and you should see an Edit tab.

I had to have to pointed out to me, so we can conclude it's easy to miss. This is true only for the original post in a thread. For replies, you can edit up until someone replies to your reply...
