RM RVND 7710 POI REMOVAL

I exchanged a Magellan 9165T GPS for a RM RVND 7710 and generally have been happy. So I decided to try loading a few custom POI files from the POI-Factory. I may have been too aggressive and tried to load too many at one time. The upload to the GPS hung and after several resets, reboots and diagnostic checks, the basic files appear to be OK, but every time I try to either use or manage the custom POIs, it hangs. I want to remove the files, but from the MY CUSTOM POIS button on the device, there is no response when I tap the MANAGE CUSTOM POIS button. I could possibly go into the device from Windows Explorer and delete files directly from the file system, but am curious whether anyone has done this and whether this will cause other problems. Any ideas?

This should put you on the right track

In the user manual on page 73 it states that when you transfer an update of a current list, the new file will completely replace the file that is currently on the device.

Good luck smile

I think I found the problem.

I think I found the problem. When I was in McDonalds to use their WiFi and load the POIs in the RVND, I used the USB power adapter for my phone instead of the USB power adapter provided with the GPS. The phone power adapter does not provide enough current to keep the GPS running and the battery completely discharged. After recharging the GPS overnight, I was able to load the remaining POIs, and more importantly, delete some of the extraneous ones. Word to the wise - read the note on the back of the unit and use ONLY the provide power adapters.

I was, however, able to load a number of separate csv files and they all showed up ad different Custom POIs

Glad you got it fixed.

And thanks for letting us know so others can learn.

Poi delete

I am trying to delete some poi's on mine and it says to please confirm even taping Yes nothing happens.........I would not advise any one to buy this GPS. If I had it to do over I would spend my 400 dollars on something else.....
