Vehicle Power Cable for 255w(car)

Hi...I'm in need of a replacement Vehicle Power Cable for my 255w.

Somehow I have bent the piece that goes into the Garmin 255W and we lose connectivity.

Any recommendations on where to purchase one CHEAP to replace my amage cable.

Thanks

eBay and Amazon are your friend

I'd suggest eBay. I see both generic and Garmin available:

If you've not bought from eBay before, buy from a Seller with high feedback (99.5+% or so, maybe). I'll also suggest buying from a US Seller if you're in a hurry since I see some Sellers who are located in China.

Amazon might be another option:

You also might consider adding Traffic and replacing your power cord with a GTM 35:

ebay

Your best bet for an inexpensive replacement is ebay. You can also upgrade to a traffic receiver.

I had a heck of a time finding one that worked on my 255W

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Vehicle-Power-Charger-Adapter-Co...

Sounds like the one I bought. A generic one caused my 255w to power up into PC transfer mode and then power off. some research says a resisitor is added to prevent this.

Resistor

There is a resistor soldered between pins 4 and 5 in the male USB plug. When power is delivered to the nüvi, the power is sent, using the resistor, from pin 4 to pin 5, allowing the nüvi to operate normally and not enter file transfer mode. Most generic adapters don't have the resistor and don't utilize pin 5, which is why they don't work.

Somewhere on the site I provide a more in-depth explanation of this.

Just get a generic charger

Just get a generic charger from a Dollar store like Dollar General for 8-10 bucks...

You wouldn't know what ohm value is needed. I bought a hard wired box but I doubt all the wires are there.

Not off the top of my head.

Not off the top of my head. However that information should be easily found through Google.
