Communicator Plugin 4.0.3

As usual, someone at Garmin has their head where the sun does not shine.
They advertised a update, and said the following:

Communicator Plugin
This download area offers free firmware upgrades for select Garmin® units. These upgrades are specific to the specific GPS units and software versions listed.

Here is the site:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3607

There are no units or versions listed.

Is this the Communicator that all PC's need to communicate with Garmin?, or something else entirely?

Some things seem to be universal

I get a kick out of this, because the regulars on a TomTom forum that I follow will often say the same thing about the decision makers at TomTom.

Some things seem to be universal.

I wonder...

I wonder if it is because they do not count on revenues after the sale?

Yes

This is a PC required Communicator update.

However...

If I log onto Garmin, it says I have to have this update. When I click on Download, it takes me to the 'Software for Sale' page. It does not download the update.

The link I gave in the first page, which I got in an email. does work.

Didn't your high school English teacher teach you anything? Those people at Garmin aren't putzs. They're putzes, with an "e!" Don't you remember how to form plurals.

Sheesh!

select dashboard tab and it will be installed automatically

You do not need to manually install the update. If you go to the My Garmin site and then select dashboard tab and it will be installed automatically.

Last time I was on there it did the 4.0.3 update.

Heh. High school was a long time ago.

Actually, I thought about putting an 'e' there, but decided against it. Mea culpa!

Like I said above, it did not do that with me. It took me to the Garmin store instead.

WebUpdater?

Now I am really confused.

In my Garmin folder in Start/Programs I have the WebUpdater listed. I opened it up and it updated me to Version 2.5.6.0. Then I hooked up my 255W and it gave me a software update.

I either don't have the Communicator or don't need it. I am wondering which.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this subject.

Found It

Did a little more digging and found my answer with a Google search.
