Loading an optimized route for KNA-G510 (numerous stops)

Not sure if this should go under "Garmin Talk" or "Other GPS Brands" b/c technically the Kenwood KNA-G510 is made by Garmin...

Anyway I learned how to load POI's on the unit from this site--thank you! Here's my problem:

I'm in sales and face the "traveling salesperson problem." I have used MS streets and trips 2009 to optimize the route, exported it to an 'est' file and then used GPSBabel to convert it to a GPX file. I've opened the GPX file in Mapsource and it does contain the stops and shows them in order (so I think everything's good so far). HOW DO I LOAD IT INTO MY KNA-G510?

Do I have to hook it up directly to my computer or can I use the SD card? I tried just copying the GPX file on my SD card in the POI folder I used before but my unit isn't even recognizing it at all.

I don't even know if the unit supports "Routes" but I THINK it does. The manual shows a way to import stops for a route manually. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

If I can't get this to work I may rip out the unit and put in a carputer with Centrifuge. Has anybody been able to do this with their Nav?

I'm currently trying to

I'm currently trying to figure out how to add routes to mine. I plan (after the heat wave today and tomorrow) to bring the KNA-G510 inside and connect it to my computer, then attempt to export the route I have created in Mapsource to the G510, then plug it back into my truck. Should know by Friday if it will work or not.

I had the KNA-G610 which is quite similar to yours

I had the KNA-G610 which is quite similar to yours. I just used one of my Garmin USB cables and plugged it into the USB connection on the KNA-G610 while it was in the car and the other end into my laptop turned on the Kenwood head unit and after it booted I could access the KNA-G610 just like any Garmin Nuvi and added vehicles, updated maps and downloaded files into it.
