Internally recharging NiMH batteries in eTrex30/Oregons?

I am looking to reduce the amount of wear on the internal battery contacts in our new eTrex 30, Oregon 450.

I installed a pair of eneloop NiMH batteries in each. Can these batteries be recharged while in the units using a computer and the supplied the USB cable? Can they be recharged the same way as a Nuvi 1450 by using the Nuvi cigarette lighter -> mini USB cable in an auto cigarette lighter port? Or do I have to constantly remove the batteries & recharge using an external Sanyo NiMH recharger?

Thanks

Nope.

There is no recharge circuitry in the Oregon ... not sure about the eTrex, but am betting it is the same. I asked about this when I got my Oregon 550 and a user in another forum told me that Garmin does not include in-unit recharging for AA batteries because if you try to recharge non-rechargable batteries like alkalines, it could damage the unit or even cause a fire.
