Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? - June 2012

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Visiting a relative

Reconnecting with a relative that moved back into our area, whe were invited to see her new home.

Their house skirts a lake and is in one of the those hard to find back roads. My GPS found it no problem! On the way home, it started me out going into a cul de sac, but quickly put be back on track. It was so dark in those woods, I was glad to have the GPS.

Hope you packed your checkbook too! smile Have fun.

We are expecting our first grandchild any time now, but she's going to be in AZ and we are in MA. Went to the baby shower in March. My other daughter is getting married (in our yard) June 23rd, so we aren't going to see the grandbaby 'till sometime after the wedding. Can't wait!

Two Wheelin' Vermont and New Hampshire

Looking forward to traveling from Texas to New England next week for ten days of motorcycling their scenic highways.

I have three of my Garmin GPS devices loaded for the trip. My Nuvi 765T will help me to avoid traffic jams along the way and help locate places to eat, sleep and buy gas. When the bike is unloaded in the far Northern part of Vermont, I will attach my Zumo 220 to it's mounting perch, load all the custom routes I plan to ride and points of interest I plan to visit, and hit the open roads.

Should either device fail or self-destruct for any reason, I will keep my nuvi 360 charged just in the event I need a backup.

If any of you are planning to ride motorcycles on the scenic roads of Texas this summer, I invite you to download my custom poi file "Texas Picnic Areas" from this website.

Wedding in yard

Good luck with the weather !
When one of my daughters got married outdoors near Lake Sunapee, NH in 2003 the rain held off all morning but started moderately just as I was walking her to the outdoor (no tent) altar !
People stood all around us with umbrellas so we didn't get toooooooo wet.
Fortunately reception festivities and dinner were under BIG tent !

May the sun shine on your festivities !

Oh - do I need $$$$$$ too ?

New Hampshire Route 112 (abbreviated NH 112) is a 56.39-mile (90.75 km) long east–west state highway in northern New Hampshire. The highway winds across the state, connecting Bath to Conway via the scenic and mountainous area of the White Mountain National Forest. Part of this highway, which runs through the White Mountains, is known as the Kancamagus Highway.

Always enjoyed the drive over the Kancamangus Hwy. even in a car but especially on a bike . A real nice ride. !

Fort Worth to Denver and Back

Just got back from a trip to Denver (by car). Used the GO930 primarily, but was glad to have the smart phone on the return trip. We came upon some severe weather in the Texas panhandle, and being able to access weather radar maps via smartphone was a big help. Ended up taking a big detour via Abilene, but it was worth it to miss the storm. It had hail, high winds and a few tornadoes.

GPS in Barcelona, Spain

I recently returned from Spain.

I use my 3790LMT in Pedestrian Mode in the greater area of Barcelona -- as far away as Sitges. I have the $10 Barcelona cityXplorer map installed -- and it is great (just in case you were considering.) It even gives you Metro guidence which is highly useful;

It goes so far as to tell you which exit to take when you are in an underground station to continue on your exploring path.
