What series is my Garmin for calibration purposes?

Guys,

Yep, noob question here, heheh.

I'm using the Beginners Exercise 7 - Calibrate Nuvi Touchscreen.

I have a Garmin 2595LMT but I don't really know which of the series the author gives fits my unit.

It is

It is my understanding that the dual oriented Nuvi's don't have, or require, a calibration facility. So it would be like the 37xx model mentioned in the article you linked to.

Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.

Steps To Calibrate

I find it absurd that Garmin does not provide calibration of touchscreens in their manual for most of the models. People should not have to be wasting time snooping around the internet for instructions.

Did a search and this is what I found, can't test myself since I don't have the unit. No harm in trying.

These calibration steps are for the 2505 series which the 2595 falls into. Give it a try and see if it works for you.

Start with the device powered off and disconnected from power
Press and hold the upper left hand corner of the touchscreen
Power the device on
Release the power button when the screen turns on but continue to apply pressure to the screen
Release the touchscreen when it changes and “Touch Dot” appears
Accurately touch the dots as they appear
The dots will change location
A stylus may be used to accurately touch the dots
Touch OK when “Calibration Complete” appears
The touchscreen is now calibrated.

The method appears to be the same as the beginners excersise for the nuvi 1100/1200/1300/1400/1600 series units.

Yep, that worked...

but to be clear the 2505 series doesn't appear in the series given on the link on the POI Factory instruction thread I pasted above. Is the 2595 a new series? The Garmin link below doesn't list the 2505 series ether but it's the same instruction you gave. Is my unit so new that even Garmin support doesn't really list it? I'd just like to know what series my unit actually is so I don't sound like such a noob when I refer to it and it's series on this fourm.

Garmin support page for calibration:

Thanks for the assist!

Confusing it is

Glad to hear you got it calibrated.
I wouldn't worry to much about what series you have.
When posting questions just identify the model including the LMT. I see you have done that in your signature already so that is helpful to forum members.

When they speak of series you will sometimes see it referred to as 24X5 series, the 5 is for models ending in the number 5 such as a 2495 or a 2455.
Your 2595LMT is one of the newer units in the 2012 line.

Garmin model numbers are totally confusing, you can't identify a unit that is more current by looking at the numbers, higher model numbers can be older units. The 2460 is an older unit whereas the 2455 is one that was released in 2012.

Also The 3490LMT is also in the 2012 line, yet the 3760LMT is an older unit.

Appears there are no rocket scientists working at Garmin development team, or at least any with common sense.

@MacDiver

I updated the Beginners Exercise to reflect the new units.

Good Job
