June Road Trip

I am thinking about taking a week road trip in June and heading west from Tennessee using my Garmin 2360 GPS. Looking for a good offbeat road trip toward west Texas and Arizona? What about the wild fires?

that's a lot of ground

That's a lot of ground to cover with no idea of what YOU want. Surely you will be starting from some city in Tennessee, but is it in the eastern, central or western part of the state? And, as the ditty says, "The sun is ris' , the sun is set and we ain't out of Texas yet." so where in "west Texas" are you thinking of visiting? Do you have a preference as to what you consider "offbeat?" I mean BASE jumping isn't everyone's cup of tea. So, unless you can provide some better clues as to what your looking for, you'll never find it and we can't help you get there.

But I would start with contacting each state you are thinking of visiting and get their tourism books. They have lots of great ideas and the books and maps are free.

Road Trip

You are correct; I was a little vague in what direction I was heading. I will be leaving on I-40 through West Memphis, Arkansas heading toward Dallas and on down toward the Big Bend Area of Texas. Thanks for your reply.

Now that we have a better idea

I would consider heading south from Dallas on 635 to Austin and San Antonio. Both have a lot to offer. San Antonio, besides a lot of great food and hotels has some neat places like the Alamo and the River Walk. Austin is just weird with more great food and some kind of a music scene. It all depends on what you want to brew in your cup of tea.

Check the Texas Department of Tourism for trip ideas.

Echo what Box Car says

Don't pass up the Riverwalk in San Antonio ! Unique experience and very enjoyable. Have done it 3 times during drives to AZ.
