Uploading routes into DNX-6140

Anyone tried to upload routes to a Kenwood nav system? (Has Garmin GPS)

I installed the Kenwood DNX-6140 nav unit in my wife's Camry. I added a USB extension cable from the unit to the glovebox. I have uploaded POI's and waypoints with no problems using poiloader and mapsource.

I uploaded a route from mapsource (and tried basecamp), but cannot locate it on the unit. On my Nuvi 750, I have to "import route" from the gps menu, but on the Kenwood, I do not have that option.

To create the route on the Kenwood is way too much trouble, for I do not travel the way Garmin suggest.

It sounds as if your Kenwood unit doesn't support preplanned routes. In fact, I can't think of any in-dash unit that will allow you to install a pre-planned route. The best option i can come up with is to create a set of POI and then go from point-to-point. You may have to stop the car to enter the next location as many also lock out any data entry while moving.

It did work on my DNX-5140

It did work on my DNX-5140 before it broke and I replaced it with the DNX-6140.

Here is my workaround... I created a list of waypoints in Mapsource then created a route by adding the waypoints in the correct order. After I was happy with the routing, I uploaded the waypoints into the Kenwood. Then I created a route on the Kenwood using the waypoints. To make it easier, I named the waypoints 001, 002 etc.
