New Case Logic case for my 5" GPS

I have an older model 3.5" Case Logic case for my Garmin nuvi 255W. It is really nice. It has a hard case on all sides and a padded interior with a mesh pocket and a lens cleaner. It has plenty of room for the GPS and a cable and is protected very well.

Recently I also purchased a Garmin nuvi 2450LM. Since I had such a good experience with the aforementioned Case Logic case, I ordered a larger one for this 5" Garmin from Amazon (UPC 85854-18069). Know what I received? A vastly inferior case. Yikes! The description says, "Molded EVA front gives extra protection to delicate GPS screens", but the hard side is the side that is adjacent to the cord storage mesh bag, not adjacent to the GPS! Yikes again! Except for the one side, all of the other sides are soft.

Furthermore, their description says, "Carbineer attachment and attached strap makes it easy to attach just about anywhere". The old model had a nice carrying strap, but they replaced it with a small Carbineer metal clip and no strap!. It's not at all comfortable.

To top it all off, the description on the tag with case, says, 3.5-5". Looks like Case Logic is going the one-size-fits-all route. Someone using this case with a smaller than a 5" GPS is in for a loose fit.

Just to let you know, I'm sending it back to Amazon.

Gotta travel on ... with my nuvi 2450LM.

Cheap Dollar store case

I've found that if you have a local dollar store of surplus electronics warehouse (Factory Direct) in Toronto. You can often find a case (not specifically made for) a GPS, but my 2460 fits nicely in a well protected 5 dollar (Case Logic) one.
Keep an eye out for one.

It could be a bad knock off

Depending on the seller, it could be a counterfeit item. If you're sure the item is a real Case Logic brand case, it sounds like they are no longer making quality products.

Wal*Mart

Wal*Mart carries the aforementioned case and it's no different from the 4.3" version that my roommate keeps her 255W stored in. Since I've never seen anything different in terms of cases, I simply put the GPS on the hard side.

My Case Logic case is very different, being designed for an Iomega Zip Drive. It's a hard shell case on both sides, not just one. If you're looking for something similar, look into portable hard drive cases on Amazon. You should find one similar to mine, though don't expect the strap.
