How to transfer favorites to new GPS?

Does anyone know how to transfer my Favorites from my 765T to my new 2360LMT???

I read somewhere that copying the current.gpx file might do it, but I tried that and it didn't work.

Any suggestions?

You were close. Just missed one step.

Copy Current.gpx to computer.
Rename file to temp.gpx
Copy to new GPS.

Depending on which Nuvi you

Depending on which Nuvi you are transfering to, you can use either MapSource or BaseCamp

The reason you cannot just copy the Current.gpx file from one Nuvi to another is that Current.gpx file is an output only file that is written anew each time you turn on the Nuvi.

The Nuvi will look at .gpx files that it finds in the Garmin\GPX folder and will merge the contents with the internally held "Favorites" and write a new Current.gpx file. Note that it ignores any Current.gpx file because it considers that file name to be output only.

So johnc has given you the right instructions. Just hook up the Nuvis (one at a time) to your computer and follow his instructions.

We always recommend "safely disconnect" when you are through with each one.

IMPORTANT.
If you have not made a backup of these Nuvis, them please do so RIGHT NOW. If you are unsure how to do this then look here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30394

it worked!

This worked! Thanks! My Favorites are now on my new GPS!

name is not important

I just did this between my 765t and 885t and called the file "Current1.gpx". I don't think it matters what name you give it as long as it is not "Current.gpx".

I think the reason I needed to move the file is I unplugged the 885t from the computer without using the safe unplug process. The memory got corrupted and I couldn't update the map. When I let the computer fix the nuvi memory my favorites were mostly gone. Fortunately I had nearly the exact same list on my other nuvi. I backed up the 765t in the process too (the 885 was backed up but not the latest favorites list).

That's right any name other than current will do. Temp.gpx is as good as any grin

EasyGPS

You can also send the GPX file to EasyGPS from your old GPS then send it to the new GPS. I use this method if I want to do any editing before I send it to the new GPS.
