Nuvi 360 Questions

I am awaiting the delivery of my first ever Nuvi - I have several questions. My biggest is - if you set it up to go to a location and you stop (remove it) and then put it back - does it continue to direct you? Please remember - I have never used one of these and so I don't have a clue about them. Also, where are the different places you can put this while driving. Can it sit on a seat (with the antenna extended)? Any tips or pointers are welcome. Thanks.

GPS Mounting Hints

Some units operate poorly when mounted on a console (low -near the floor) and near the dash (my Forerunner as an example)

I made a cupholder mount as follows:
3" drain cover - black abs plastic (Ace Hardware $4.50)
Check to see if the cover fits securely in the cup holder. (Works great in my Forerunner and Tahoe).
Remove adhesive and stick the mounting disc to the drain cover top. The Garmin mounts to the disc via suction.
Result: Garmin is higher in the car - better visibility to satellites - easier to read/enter data from driver's seat. Mount is secure and stable.

Nuvi 360 Questions

My 350 will work on the dash, the seat or the console; but, I like it best up high where I can easily glance at it.

Tried a cup holder mount and did not like it.

Ended up with a beanbag dash mount which really works great and stows easily.

If you stop enroute, even if you turn the Nuvi off, it will pick up where you left off when you turn it back on.

I like it high too, but I

I like it high too, but I work in a high-crime area and between my 360 and radar detector, it's a pain removing them all the time. The suction cups seem to suffer too as my Nuvi was falling of the windshield every day or so. I picked up a $5 4x6x2 black ABS project box from Radio Shack. It fit like a glove into the store box in my dash. Using some computer desk grommets from Lowes ($4), a Dremmel, and some epoxy, the 360 and control unit of my radar detector look built into the dash. The swing-up door of the compartment asks as a sun-shield and I'm using a -55db gain external antenna. The screen is lower, but I've gotten used to it and have run an external handsfree mic to the visor and hotwired all the power to the fusebox. Cost of materials, around $15 for the fabrication, $25 for the antenna, $15 for the mic, and $85 for Best Buy to hook up and hide the wires for the electric and antenna. I have an Infiniti G35.

I don't know where I'm going or remember where I've been...without Garmin.

Hey this sounds like an excellent project. Can you post some pictures of this?? Send them to JM or MissPOI. Would be great to see what you did.
Thanks.
