Will sox.exe effect MP3 alerts?

I have a nuvi 760 that I've been using for about three years. It plays MP3 files, and I have several alerts, RLC and Speed Cameras, specifically. The wife got a 2360LMT for Christmas, which doesn't play MP3s - I know because when I installed the RLC files (with the MP3 file) the voice alert didn't work.

I downloaded sox.exe into the POI Loader directory, and included wav files for her unit - I pointed POI Loader to a unique directory with copies of just the RLC and Speed files to upload to her GPS, and she now gets the proper voice alert.

My question is this - with sox.exe in the POI Loader directory, will it have any effect on the MP3 files I use for my 760? I haven't updated mine since I set hers up, but I thought I'd ask before I have to move files or reload anything.

Thanks!

Same files for both

You can use the same wav files for both units, I do. Mine will accept mp3 files but some other units I make files for in my motorcycle group don't have mp3 ability. So I just got in the practice of using just wav files for everything.

Use .wav

I have sox.exe installed in the proper folder and it has no effect on the .mp3 files I load into my 760. Bear is right in that everything is simplified if you only use .wav and load some of the same POIs in both nuvis.

Thanks!

Thank you both, it's good to know that. I have stuff loaded - aviation places, favorite photo spots, and such - that she has no interest in, and doesn't want "cluttering up" her GPS. Trust me, it's easier this way... wink

MP3 vs WAV

As bear007 has indicated, you can use .wav files in both units.

As long as you do not have a space problem on either unit, you might consider using .wav files for all alerts (you can have .mp3 files for entertainment in your 760). That will let you have one, say, MyPOI folder for both units.
