Garmin 1450 (don't see poi file under Extras)

I down loaded the Rest Area file on this site using PO Loader. The loader says it loaded the file succesfully with the correct number of POI's. But I can not see the file under my Extras or Favorites group. Any suggestions?

.

Try a simple on/ off to reboot the unit.

NO POI display

I tried your on off suggestion, but this did not help. The Extras displays a banner "Cusom POIs" but nothing under it.

Tap The Screen

Tap the "Custom POIs" and they should be displayed.

PoiLoader 2700 and send to sd ?

Did you use poiLoader 2700 and send it to sd card on unit. If so it makes wrong extension, (.poi instead of gpi) and will not work.

And when this fixes it, don't worry, smithgary42, you're far from being the first to miss this one last step before seeing your custom POIs.

Right

@smithgary42, is the file there?

Reconnect to the PC, check under your _:\Garmin\POI folder and see if you can see the file you created with POILoader. Check the Name, Date and Time stamps to see if they match the time you compiled the file.

I'm not familiar with the 1450 but some of the newer GPSs may have the POI folder in the root directory or somewhere else.

where do you have your poi files saved that you want on your nuvi? Are you copying them from a memory card or your nuvi drive on your pc?

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Garmin had a bad POI loader,

Garmin had a bad POI loader, but don't know if there was an update to fix it. If you were loading POI's to external media, the file type was wrong and as a result would not work or show in Extras. When loading to internal memory, it worked fine. I went back to the previous POI loader since that one works fine with external media.

poi

yea, maybe a bad poi loader

Had same problem with Nuvi 2400

I had the same problem, what I had to do to get it to work.
1. Use POI loader to remove existing files.
2. Restart POI loader and use manual mode.
3. For the file(s) that you want to use proximity points there will be a check box saying "This file contains proximity alearts" <- check that box.
4. Then you have a choice to get an alter if you go faster than a certain speed or when you come within a certain proximity of those points.
That's what worked for me.

Problem Fixed!

Thanks to everyone. Your suggestion fixed my problem. I even contacted Garmin support, and they didn't tell me to try tapping the POI. Thanks again.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, I had to leave town for a funeral and was away from my computer.
