Stanford Conferece--

In another thread, I've posted the links to presentations from a recent Stanford conference on precision time and positioning applications.

The lead-off presentation was basically why LightSquared screws over GPS.

A later presentation is from the FAA with more details on how LightSquared screws up GPS.

One of the spectrum charts shows clearly why some of the precision positioning systems, such as that marketed by John Deere for farming and construction, which rely on a correction signal broadcast by the INMARSAT III satellite, is rendered unusable in LightSquared goes ahead with their use of the 10H frequency -- and no "design around" is possible, other than moving LightSquared off those frequencies!

The band LightSquared wants to use was allocated for (weak-signal) satellite downlinks, not for 15KW terrestrial transmitters!
