No alert beep with custom POI sound

I have a sound file to go with my red light camera POI's. Works good but I do not hear the alert double bell. I used to hear both the bell and the sound file but some where along the way it disappeared. Any suggestion on how to get it back?

The sound file has to be

The sound file has to be named exactly as is the POI file, up to the period.

Thus,

Redlightcamera.csv must match up to
Redlightcamera.wav

or

Red Light Cameras.csv must match up to
Red Light Cameras.wav

that's how mine works

If I add a custom sound I hear the custom sound, not the default sound. If you really want to hear both the simple "fix" would be to put the bell or beep or whatever you want on the beginning of the custom sounds. I suggest using the great free audio editor Audacity to do that.

Personally I would rather have either or and not always hear the default, but this would get you what you want

Both bell and sound file

If at one time you heard both the bell and sound file, then that must mean there were two sets of Red Light Camera POIs loaded, one without the sound file and one with the sound file. As you approach the location, there would be two POIs there, not just one. The usual action for any proximity alert is a bell if there is no sound file, and the sound only if there is a sound file.

The change must have come when the POIs were updated and the original set without the sound file was deleted. This must have happened in the PC folder and possible subfolders where the POIs are kept and where you direct POI Loader to browse to. At the time when both the bell and sound file were heard, two instances of the RLC file must have existed in the PC folder.

Nice Troubleshooting

@dobs108

Loading two copies of the camera files, one with custom alert sound and another without, is a solution I hadn't considered.

That's a pretty creative approach smile

Sound

How do you check that excactly?

.

I've had that happen as well. Turns out I had the RLC file and the Garmin Safety Camera file on at the same time.
