Nuvi 2555LMT vs Nuvi 1490LMT - Which is better?

Quite honestly I get confused over all the different and sometime subtle differences between all the Garmin GPS offerings. I'm seeking input and opinions on the difference between the 2555LMT and the 1490LMT and which one is better in your opinion. Sam's Club has the same price for both so no difference there.

2555lmt for sure

If I had to choose between the two it would be the 2555lmt. This unit is from Garmin's new 2012 series featuring the new 2.0 Guidance interface, horizontal verticle veiwing, larger internal memory.

So for the same price, this is a no brainer.

Are we there yet?

Go for the 2555lmt

The 1490 only has 2gb of memory. This is a problem when updating maps.

Nuvi 2460LMT.

Thanks y'all. I ended up

Thanks y'all. I ended up going with the 2555LMT. Someone on another forum gave a compare link:

Another compare site

gpstracklog.com is also another good side for side by side comparison.

Sounds Familiar

Thinking about upgrading. I was checking out the new offerings and the 2555LMT looks to be pretty good. It also sounds really close to my 255W which has worked excellent for me since day one and actually still does. I like that bigger screen.

EDIT: I was looking at Amazon. I see a huge price difference there. I'll check my local Sams.

Avoid the 1490

As a 1490 owner I can say buyers should avoid it unless they can get it for a steal, say under $50 new, and nothing else meets their needs. Garmin offers much better units.
