Trails?

Hi all,

Just dpwnloaded the Trails POIs onto my Garmin i5, and notice that the maps indicate just a point (the trailhead?) and not the trail itself. Am I doing something wrong, or is that what I should expect with this unit?

Thanks very much for indulging a newbie.

Stevie

If you're wanting it to

If you're wanting it to display the full path, a POI won't do that.

The i5 is strictly an automotive street navigator. There are plenty of inexpensive handheld gps units that would help you off the beaten path. I have an explorist 200 I plan on testing when I go hiking next year.

Well post here when you've tested it out! I'm shopping for a new handheld as the old eTrex is just not exciting me anymore, what with all those color units out there...

explorist 200

Hi Robin,
The Explorist 200 is a grayscale gps. You can't connect it to a computer but it will keep a tracklog so you can find your way back via electronic breadcrumbs. You can find it online for about $100.00. I suggest you visit Magellan's and whoever else makes a handheld gps's website and download their pdf manuals. I know for sure that Magellan has the pdf's at their site. Personally color doesn't matter much to me. Here is a link that may help you decide http://www.gpsinformation.net/ .

Good Luck,
Ray
