2495LMT

I am planning to buy new nuvi 2495LMT.. Anyone using this new 2012 model? Any suggestions? My last one got stolen (from the car..) i am pissed but gotta move on with life..

Your not alone, mine got

Your not alone, mine got stolen out of the car a few days ago. I'm still not sure how they got in the car though, they took my nuvi and all the chargers in the glove box. sad

As for the 2495LMT, I think it's a great choice. I have narrowed my choices to that same unit.

I don't think I'll be leaving mine in the glove box anymore though.

That stinks

Thieves always get my dander up. I am looking at another Nuvi to add to my 2350lmt. I gave my old 350 and 205 to the kids. They keep them in the glove box as they are older and cheap. I have finally given up on leaving my more expensive nuvi in the glove box and bring it in the house.

Considering the 2595

I'm thinking about going up to the 5" screen rather than the 4.3. It's only about $30 more I think.

they took my charger as well

they took my charger as well but never touched the suction cup or anything else.. and this happened in daylight.. still very pissed about it..

and yes, i bought the 2495LMT; its a nice GPS.. so far I am loving it.. and i am not gonna leave it in car ever again..

Can you do a test to check the memory? Press and hold the battery icon for 8-10 seconds to see if a diagnostic screen appears like many of the previous NUVIs. If so, it should report the cpu speed and internal memory size on the initial screen, usually on the banner, for you to post back here. That way I can confirm what GARMIN replied to me with for the Internal Memory Size FAQ.

Thanks

random?

Do you think it was a random break in or did you leave a clue that you owned a GPSr and that it maybe stored in the car?

Was the suction cup also in the glove compartment?

If the suction cup was in the glove compartment did you remove (clean) the tell tale sign of the suction cup from the windshield?

The reason I ask is because I have a GPSr inside the center storage compartment of the dashboard since I bought the Nuvi in 2008, the unit is hard wired and it only comes out when I bring it in the house to update POIs, there is no visible cable or indication that one is there.

my mistake was i left the

my mistake was i left the gps on the windshield bcoz i was going to the mall for an hour and in rush i never took it out.. so whoever stole; left the suction cup on windshield as it was.. took the cable and unit.. there are cameras in the parking lot but i dont think police will ever gonna make any arrest.. they have better things to do; like give speeding tickets to people..

5" screen

I have a Tomtom with the 5" screen. It's like night & Day. I recommend it highly.

Stolen GPS

gpsomnia, how did they get into the car? Did they break a window to get to the GPS?

For me, the broken window would be costlier than the GPS. With the drop in prices of GPS units I wasn't too worried about leaving it attached to the windshield but I'm going to have to stop doing that. I don't want to lose the GPS and don't want to have to deal with a broken window.

I was foolish to leave my mount on the windshield once

One time I left the mount on the windshield, but I kept the GPS with me. They broke my window to look for it, ended up not taking anything as there was nothing to take.

I then had to drive around to find a place to get my window fixed as I was away from home that week. Very annoying to deal with. Best thing is to remove the mount, and any suction cup marks left behind.

This would be my choice as well.

I'm currently quite happy with my c340, but if for some reason I can't get mine to work any more I'd go with a 2595LMT based on the features I'd want (not much, just lifetime maps for all of NA, 5.0 screen, traffic trends).

I hope Traffic Trends works well, many of my trips typically involve taking the same roads, just different start and end points.

I am a bit disappointed in the battery life, I took a 6 hour round trip on battery alone and had about 50% remaining.

2495LMT Internal Memory

Can anyone tell me how much internal memory on the 2495LMT?
