Who still is without power after Irene?

I made it through the storm unscathed. 7 PM Sunday, POW! Something blows up in the neighborhood, and I'm thrust into the stone age. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a generator, but cold showers are so pase... I'm in Huntington LI, border of Greenlawn and am still out.

Light ?

Does the light inside the refrigerator really turn off, when you close the door ?

MD Mostly on now

Here in MD we still have quite a few still out, even still some in DC which is not too customary.

Best thing I ever did was buy a generator for Y2K! Didn't need it then but since I've worn it out and got a replacement.

I lost power 2:30am Sunday and got it back 11:45pm Monday. One of the shortest on record for me. Hope you guys don't have to wait too long, and ..

.. stay dry. And remember, it can take less than 6" of fast running water to float some cars downstream (for a little while, until it sinks)!

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

I realized that, but...

Just Lucky

At home the power never went out. Just lucky I guess. At work in a large office building, I run the six 1,500 Kw emergency diesel generators. No power failure at work either! The diesels sat unused.

dobs108 cool

Just got mine back

Friday at 5:00 PM... Scary part is, I am not the last. crying

One Minute

I lost power for about one minute around 5am Sunday. Then the breaker at the local sub reset and I was back. Never lost power after that and I know the reason why. I purchased five gallons of gasoline and had the generator ready to go. Even ran it on Saturday for ten minutes to make sure everything was okay. If I didn't do that, then I would have lost power.

Just like washing your car to make it rain.

Very Lucky

I'm in Stony Brook, LI. Never lost, had about 4 or 5 two second hits. Lost cable for about 6 hours. There are still about 66,000 on the island without power.

Sorry for Irene. I washed my car.

I lost power for about 8 hours on Sunday and had to postpone my vacation to Ocean City, MD until Monday. Weather was great all week.

My Son got back Friday

Took 6 days for my son to get power in Suffolk, LI. Had the grand kids sleeping here and everyone eating at my house. I'm really glad they got the power back, I'm getting to old to run around with 5 kids.

No issues at our house

We had a few seconds of power dipping and going out, but no outages beyond that. Had to repair a corrupted computer filesystem bring one system back to operational capabilities; had one tree go down - it fell away from the house.

One of the folks at work was out of power for about a week - looks like almost everyone is back up in the county finally.

We'll see what else the season has to offer us with regard to challenges!

Lost power

I am in Tx and one hurricane it took 13 or 14 days for power to resume the next hurricane it took 11 days for power to be restored. It seems to depend how close you are to the city center a fried lost power for 23 hours near downtown Houston,Same storm I lost power for 11 days.
