Recent Solar Flares may cause your GPS to not function properly starting today, and may last for a day or so!

Yeah, but I didn't want anybody to blame the Garmin Automatic Updater for seeing "Poor Satellite Reception" on their unit. LOL

If we truly are going into a "Maunder Minimum", then we should see these reports less and less.

Northern Lights

May be visible in North America tonight - provided it's not cloudy and raining as is forecast in my neighborhood.

and... Oh Noes!! There's an Antiproton Ring encircling the Earth!!

That could explain

That could explain why my nuvi showed my route as being on a parallel on/off side of the interstate and my vehicle was actually on the interstate. This is a route I take quite frequently and this has never happened.

I also will periodically see my vehicle half off the roadway sometimes and other times right where it needs to be (on the same road but different days).

Believing?

What exactly do you not believe?

This is a well documented problem with Solar Flares.

Solar Flares induce Magnetic storms

Magnetic storms impact propagation of radio frequencies, disrupting them.

Believe - it really does happen.

Could solar flares be blamed for Garmin's decisions regarding Junction View file size?

saw on twitter

Solar storms may disrupt satellite & telecom equipment over the next few days. AT&T customers not expected to notice the difference.

Yes, in more ways than one

It's even more funny, since its Verizon on strike and not AT&T.

My Verizon wireless has been working all day, but that's subject to change.

The strike is against Verizon Communications = the landline company not Verizon Wireless. They are separate entities.

I stand corrected. The local newspaper article that I read (probably taken from AP or another) alluded that all of Verizon was affected. But reading articles online say otherwise - it is the landwire service.

Reminds me of a Mark Twain quote..."If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you're mis-informed."

That's becoming more and more true every day, as journalism any more is about managing facts to manipulate public opinion rather than report facts and mirror public opinion.

How true

Sensationalism and manipulation are the core values these days.

slower

I have noticed that satellite aquisition had been slower the last few days. Dont know if strong SF had anything to do with that or not.

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Flares

Affected me. I was headed for a diet yogurt store and somehow ended up at a Five Guy's. Who'd of thunk ?
