POIs and notes

I have a 1490LMT that I'm very happy with but I would like to do the following:

When I export POIs from bing.com maps to it, I would also like to export any notes that I might have added to the point of interest.

In addition, when looking at a POI in the nuvii, could I also view the notes that came with that particular point of interest?

Thank you.

Yes using gpx files you can

Yes using gpx files you can add more info and view on screen. I like using Extra Poi editor and put the notes in. Welcome to the site.

POIs and notes

Thanks. GPX did the trick.

One other question:

Both here and in other GPS related forums, I've seen references to "the next map update is on such and such date".

I don't think I've seem any announcements from Garmin regarding this.

So... how do you guys know in advance the date of the map updates?

Just wondering...

"Extra POI Editor"...???

New to the list and Garmin... I have used the Garmin POI Loader to create GPI files but what is "Extra POI Editor and how are GPX files different?

Extra POI Editor is a free program created by one of our super members. If you want to create/edit your own POI files then this is the program to use http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor

A lot of us also use Extra Poi Editor to build our alert distances into gpx files so we can use express mode for Poiloader. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/28521

No one really knows the release date since Garmin doesn't post it, they just release it when its ready.. It's about every 3 months and the rumor mill starts running when the time gets near.

Sometimes user's get a little insight from a Garmin tech support person. Also, the EU map was released either today or yesterday so we could see an update anytime. So spread the rumor!! grin
