I notice that in the Big D, it seems that every approach to a 4-way intersection will have a photo enforced sign, but many of them only have one camera looking at travel through one of the streets in the 4-way intersection. Is there any reasoning behind it? One would seem that a red light intersection should cover all streets to be effective.

It might just be a cheaper

It might just be a cheaper deterrent to get people to think twice about taking a red light or a stale yellow one than actually installing cameras. There are couple of towns I travel through where there were cameras at intersections, and while the cameras have been gone for a couple of years now, the signs indicating there are red light cameras are still up.

The more likely explanation

The more likely explanation is that statistically more accidents occur in one direction than the other.

That's a good point.

no ryme or reason

I have never come accross an intersection with four cameras, mostly two cameras and saw one last week with three.

Most cameras and poles are painted white but last week came accross one on US1 (Dixie Hwy) painted camouflage, behind the camera there is an oak tree and it blends with the back ground.

Notification signs?

On that US1 camera, were there any notification signs?

CRS

There are many RLC in that stretch of US1 and I noticed some of the signs but don’t remember if this particular RLC had one, I wasn’t watching for the signs since my Nuvi was already alerting.

Just to clarify the paint on the pole and camera wasn’t “camouflage” as we know, it was a shade of green to closely match the tree foliage behind.
