Garmin Internal Memory Sizes

I can't remember all the internal mem sizes. So if your GPS and mem size is not already on the list hit Add New Comment and post yours. I will find the post and add the info to this list. Let's just get a list going for now (for us memory challenged folks) and figure out where/how to store it later. These are some I found in other posts and replies from members to this post. Also, I don't think the GPS suffix matters to mem size but if it does enter away.

out of Memory

Maps and supporting files are getting to be huge. Even on my 4 GB units that can still update all the maps and supporting files on to the unit I move the huge JCV file to the SD card when its all done. That always give me plenty of memory for the unit to operate.

8GB 2555?

Everything I read about the 2555 says it's 4GB, but I just bought a factory refurb US/NA model and it is definitely 8GB. I was quite surprised, I was able to load the 2015.10 map update with no problem and Garmin Express shows '55% full, 3.2GB free', so I confirmed on the diag screen which says:

SW Ver 8.20 nuvi 2555 C2p2 A V8 8GB 64MB TE

I guess I should have checked that before I opened the 8GB microSD card I bought.

It is a nicely designed unit.

Does anyone know where to find a list that shows Nuvi memory for the various models?

Very useful list. Thanks for all the contributions to it.

The 2598LMTHD storage space as reported by Windows 7.

I bet its 8GB. On the Where To page hold the battery bars for 8-10 seconds and the diasgnostic screen will appear if this the same as many other nuvis. On my diag screen the memory is listed right on the top banner. Yours may be in a different place. Hit exit when done.

I will list it, the Vista and the 3580 a little later.

Thanks for the report

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

nuvi 1450 with 4 GB?

I always thought that all North American 14xx nuvis only had 2 GB and the Europe models had 4 GB. But my daughter is here visiting and I was adding the camera alerts to her 1450LMT that she purchased 2 or 3 years ago. I was surprised to see that she had the current map (2015.40 US and Canada) and no micro SD card. I looked at her internal storage and she has 2.4 GB used and 1.3 GB free space. So her 1450 definitely has 4 GB internal storage. It is possible that this unit was originally a Europe model that was refurbed by Garmin for resale in the US. She bought it at a retail store, but didn't know if it was new or refurb.

Alan, I participated in a thread awhile back discussing member pwolrab buying a refurbished 2460LMT that he couldn't update the maps since it was a European model originally.
This may not be the case with your daughter since she's unsure if the unit she bought was a refurb. Even if it was a refurb she has not encountered the problem pwolrab had since she can update the map. So it remains a mystery how her 1450 has 4GB memory.

I am guessing the diagnostic page will show 8 gb. I'll add it as you reported it though. I'll have to start a new DRIVE section and will move all the nuvis down.

Welcome

@Chief_10Beers,
Thanks for the info and Welcome to the Factory

We usually recommend the following.

There is a "Learn" button in the upper right of this page next to "red light cameras" that takes you to a Getting Started page. It is worthwhile visiting this page.

To make navigation easy, most browsers provide the following option. When you want to follow a link - but still keep your current page open - you can hold down the "Ctrl" key as you left-click on a link. That action will open a new "Tab" in your browser up on the "Tab" bar. When you then left-click on that new "Tab", you will follow the link - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.

So, using the "Learn" link, you might try the "Ctrl" - left-click sequence and then return here. You can return by either "X-ing" out of the "Getting Started" page (using the "X" on the "Tab" itself) or just left-clicking on the "Tab" for the page you are on right now.

Note that the Learn Button will give you access to two valuable reference pages -
the "Index" to all of the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and the Glossary of Terms and Links.

Since you are new here, I encourage you to go through a couple of the Tutorials.

The first link makes sure the settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30393

The next link helps you make a backup of your GPS by attaching it to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup). It also assures that you put your (newer) unit into a state where you can see all of the folders there.

AFAIK, there has never been a Garmin Nuvi/DriveSmart with more than 8GB of internal storage, at least on units with only NA or EU maps installed. I'd be very surprised if the DriveSmart unit your looking at would come with more than 8GB and certainly no less than that.

You have listed 1.74GB storage for the Garmin 50LM. Not that it is a big difference but it actually contains 1.813GB storage which is still pitiful! I looked at my remaining storage with the Map installed and that % left with the Map size is easy to calculate the exact total storage of this device.

There is no such model as 255LMT. LMT didn't even exist when the 255W came out. There was a 255W and a 255WT which added a GTM 25 TRAFFIC RECEIVER to get Lifetime Traffic Updates. It was a Best Buy Exclusive for a long time. Models with Lifetime Maps weren't available yet either (any Garmin model). Thx.
