Personally, I'm holding out for the 8000 series...
Kinda fitting for you I must say, since you're close to the water. 7215 marine navigator is already out. Won't be long. BTW poi-factory is for Automotive Gps.

Best Buy had an incredible deal a month ago for $139.99. They were clearing out this item in-store. Bunch of people grabbed these and flooded Ebay and prices ranged from $230 to $270 in auctions/Buy-It-Now. Now the prices are back to almost $280- $290 new. You can get a refurbished one at Buy.com for $249.99 or $239.99 from Ebay.
If you want routing I read that the 3790 didn't route. That is why I went with the 2450
Check the reviews for the 3790, I think that is where I saw it, may have been on this site. Garmin said they were going to add routing to the 3790 but don't know if they did.
It's not that it doesn't route because it does, using Trip Planner like on the 2450. The current problem with the 3790 is that you can't download routes from Mapsource, or any other software or mapping website. Because of this you have to create your routes on the Nuvi. Garmin has said they would fix this problem, which works fine on the 2450, but as yet it hasn't happened.
I've had the opportunity to use the 2450 and the 3790 side by side. Other than the customizable main menu and the ability to download routes using the 2450, these 2 units have pretty much the same interface. Where the 3790 really shines is the brilliant screen, ability to use it in portrait and landscape mode, lots of street name detail and 3D terrain maps.
Unless you need the 5" screen, which really isn't any better than the one on the 1490, the 3790 would be my choice everytime.
Bit the bullet and went and bought the 3790lmt from Best Buy. Getting the new map update right now. Will play with it when I have everything loaded. If I have any question I will be back.

Thank you for your response. Also, does it have an anti-glare screen.

Not really
Not really an anti glare screen. It is very bright and there really is no need for an anti glare screen as it's very visible in any light.
