EDIT: Please note that for a couple of weeks, the second unit showed no evidence of the Voice Command flaw, and I believed that all was well - that perhaps the system had learned my voice and was thus working around the flaw. Today, however, it is back with a vengeance, rebooting three times in as many hours. Garmin's support has consisted of: a) update the software (had already been done); b) restore the system (already been done, not that I can figure out how this would resolve the issue); c) send it back to them at my expense and have them replace the unit (as opposed to Amazon, who will let me return this defective product at their cost).

While the 2460LMT is an extremely capable device, it suffers from an Achilles heel in its Voice Command feature that Garmin support is tiptoeing around.

Overall, the unit is well built. Most of the features are well designed, if sometimes buried withing layers of menus. However, the easily customizable main menu means that the features that matter most can be easily accessed. The ecoroute system is a blessing, even without the HD accessory - with enough fillups, I have noticed that its estimates have been pretty close to accurate

I don't care for the design of the traffic receiver, which is just far enough down the car charger cord, that it is hard to keep unobtrusive - higher up and it could stay on the dash or lower and it could rest with the plug; instead we have it hanging in front of the console. Nevertheless, this isn't a major problem.

The major problem is the Voice Command feature. While it generally works well enough, it will sporadically reboot itself when the user states Recently Found or Favorites. This unacceptable failure in the software has yet to be addressed or acknowledged by Garmin in their software updates. Please note that the failure in this case has been personally observed across two units, and by two drivers - this reducing the possibility that this is limited to an individual unit or driver.

As an aside, Amazon customer service has been, as always, great.

Thanks, but I am looking at the 2450LM and it doesn't have Voice command and it doesn't have the traffic. Sounds like the 2460 has only problems with traffic and voice command. Hope nothnig else is giving them trouble.

Do you use the multipoint route features of your nuvi 750 (preplanning, saving, recalling, editing and navigating multipoint routes)? The reason I ask is that the 24xx and 37xx series nuvi's have replaced these functions with the Trip Planner, and I have read several posts from users who are disappointed in the Trip Planner when comparing it to the legacy routing functions on the older nuvi's. I don't have any first hand experience with this, but it is something to think about.

I use the multipoint route feature with my nuvi 750 all the time. I plan it in mapsource and put in on my 750. So I need to research how Trip Planner works.

Does anyone know how Trip Planner works compaired to Nuve 750 routing function?

Edit: Went to Garmin suport page and they said the 2450 can have routes downloaded from Mapsource. This was the first gps using Trip planner that they added the ability to use MapSource to Trip Planner

Just don't be surprised if the 2450 is missing one or more features contained in your 750. Garmin is famous for removing features.

So far I find the MP3 is gone. Not sure if anything else is missing.

Does anyone know if the 2450LM can use the language dictionary?

Just got my new Nuvi 2450LM.

I registered it, and updated to the new map...2012.10.

It acquired sat. in my living room no where near a window in just a few seconds. Can't believe that!!

I loaded all my POIs on it and all seems fine.

Will take a trip tomorrow and see.

Also, the Garmin web site siad no Language Dicitionary but it does have that feature, nice suprise!

Will try to put my routes on it in a day or two. Will follow up on how that goes.

Ok I just loaded routes from Mapsource to Nuvi 2450 and they look great.

I said that I would never leave my Nuvi 750 BUT
I now have a favorite new Jill

As far as I can tell this unit has everything that the 750 had except the MP3. It so much easier to use and has the Eco and learns your routes.

So far sure do like it
