Garmin 1350 LMT - How to choose which POIs to display while navigating or driving?

I just got a Garmin 1350 LMT as an upgrade from my old TomTom. I downloaded and installed tons of custom POI files from poifactory. Now, how do I choose which of them I want to have icons show for on the map when I drive by them?

I do not want alerts foe these POIs. I simply want to see, for example, a McDonalds logo on the map when I drive by one.

Thank you for your help!!!

I tried that kind of thing

I tried that kind of thing for awhile on my 1350, but it was way too much info. Eliminated all of the logos, but can find the nearest to me from each category of POI anytime I want to.

Try a few

I would try a few at a time to see what they look like. Keep in mind that the icons will be small and hard to notice depending what you are looking at.

Right, but HOW do I actually get any of these POI logos to show?

You will have to zoom in

You will have to zoom in around 300 ft to see the bmps for your custom pois. The favorites icons show up better when navagating.

When loading the POIs, make sure that the logo has the same filename as the POI (csv or gpx file). They should also be located in the same folder when installing.

For example,

McDonalds.csv
McDonalds.bmp

You will need wav and

You will need wav and sox.exe if you decide to include voice alerts. Not mp3 for your unit.By the way welcome to Poi Factory.

Thx for the kind welcome, Charles!

So, I got the McD to show. Awesome! Now, is it possible to choose to show only some POIs at a time so as to not lag down the unit?

You will have to zoom in on

You will have to zoom in on some of them.I have noticed with the new map update more icons are showing when close to the road you are navigating on.Some users have reported using the track up setting instead of 3d that shows more icons. You will find that under tools, settings, map and touch map view to select one.

On my old TomTom, I could

On my old TomTom, I could have a list of hundreds of custom POIs. From that list on the device, I could select ONLY the POIs I wanted to display on the map at a given time.

Is this possible with the Nuvi 1350?

Unless some of the newer

Unless some of the newer models came out with it the answer is no.Have not seen anyone report anything different.Garmin does not clutter up the screen with icons.

No problem.My friend has a

No problem. My friend has a 1300 series Garmin I set up for her.You can set up categories for favorites like you can for custom pois. You have to have at least 12 favorites to do that.Categories for favorites is in your manual but don't believe having to have 12 is covered.

1350 & POI Icons

Hi everyone,

I have an old Magellan that is pretty neat with this POI stuff.
You can select the sort of stuff you are looking for and it will display the icons (generic) on the map.

I got a Garmin 1350 LMT (free maps and traffic) basically because I was complaining to my wife that the updates to the Magellan cost more than the unit!

I like this Garmin, however, the POI handling sucks.

You have to zoom at 120 ft (or so) and the icons show underneath your main route!

So the only reasonable way to use is to do a detour to the POI you are looking for.

I'm planning on filing some examples and send them to Garmin to see if at least they can fix that on a future update.

How is Garmin with updates to the system? Do they post often?
