Rescue Me will be a loss. A

Rescue Me will be a loss. A bit long in the tooth after 7 seasons I guess, but Denis Leary is a frickin' comic genius! Given his overall attitude to the suits it's a testament that it lasted this long.

V too?

That was just getting good.

Bummer

My wife liked Outsourced. LongAce, I watched V also. It was gaining momentum.

Maybe we should bring back Firefly smile

I am sad to see V go, I

I am sad to see V go, I really loved that show.

Miss POI

Stargate Universe

Well, it was the worst Stargate yet, but I like the concept, so I'll miss it. Or will when I get through watching it on Netflix.

No more Smallville. Sob. I

No more Smallville. sad Sob. I only watch it for Allison Mack, I'm sure she'll find something else. smile

Never was attached to any of

Never was attached to any of the listed shows. Doesn't hurt my feelings to see all of them go away, maybe the networks will find something that the viewing public is willing to watch. TV really suxs. but POI FACTORY is still at the top of my list for the most viewed. smile

Changing times . . .

Certainly, one can't miss what one never saw, but many of the dropped comedies were well executed - some of it was poor promotion, somne was bad scheduling and some simply beyond the general public's ability to accept, one case in point being Will Arnett in Running Wilde or Outsourced, which humorously showcased the angst of people exposed to extreme cultural differences.

With fewer people watching less television the selection and variety will necessarily decline. And it shows with the rise of brainless, low cost TV in the form of reality shows about people who aren't interesting enough to watch (though missing from the list were a couple of the 'real housewives' shows - NONE of them should be on the air).

Too bad - many of the comedies were very original and really deserved the chance to build a core audience - and some of the dramas like Off The Map and The Defenders were very engaging. Cop shows? They're all pretty much interchangeable and I certainly wouldn't miss any of them if I was following them.

Bear in mind that a number of these shows were based on situations that simply didn't lend themselves to more than one season - shows like 'Better With You' about a girl who gets pregnant and decides to marry her 'one night stand' sort of come to an end when the woman gives birth, or 'The Event', which kind of peters out with the execution of the target.

Others simply didn't have enough depth to carry them - while it was fun, shows like No Ordinary Family quickly became lame and very unbelievable.

However IMO it isn't what's been canceled, but rather what has survived that is something of a shocker . . . shows like Workaholics and other truly terrible television is still around. That's possibly more of a shame than the premature cancellation of a show that perhaps wasn't well promoted, but may have deserved to continue.

Human Target

Hate to see this one canceled. One of my favorites

What garbage will they put on to replace this trash?

The Defenders & $#*! My Dad Says were decent. The rest were .....

How about something original! Fewer Commercials!

Reality shows are so lame-brain and they all have basically the same format. Good riddance when they go. The shows that do have writers seem to copy, copy, copy with little or no originality. If one show makes it, a dozen other copies will follow that copy that format.

I have a cable channel that shows old shows during the middle of the night. One thing that really amazes me is how much commercialization has gone into the programs. The old half-hour program that I like has a one minute commercial in the middle of the show and a three minute commercial at the end. As we pay so much for cable and rebroadcast rights, we should be asking... why?

Chicago Code never showed

Chicago Code never showed WHO cooked those diners for that big "family"

More Decline Expected

Bunch of shows we watched but only a few that were real favorites. We have recorded everything we watch for years to avoid all the commercials.

Usually at the end of the season we would have enough in the que to fill in during rerun season. This year we have less than 1/2 the shows in the que than past years. This is even with filling some of our watching slots with Netflix and Hulu, an indication of lower quality of shows to pick from. To many reality shows.

My guess is many of these empty slots will be filled with more reality (cheap to make) TV.

Jim...

ok but

I have been reading on the WD web site that by populer deman. That they are going to bring back Smillville for 1 more season. Showing clark Kent in his 1st year as Superman. I do hope what I have been reading is right I do like the show. I record it in my DVR and whtch it when I come home from over the road.
