Garmin says maps are old.

Hello! Is it possible to stop my Garmin Nuvi telling me that the maps are old? I do not need to buy new ones now. What I have is good for me. Thank you.

Nope

Just click it and make it disappear.

DriveSmart 50, DriveSmart 60, nuvi 2595, nuvi 3760,

A little over a year

After my map was a little over a year old, I started getting the message. I just click through.

Of course, Garmin wants you to update your map but at today's prices, one must consider getting a new unit - perhaps one with lifetime maps.

Mine does it too.

I've learned to live with it. It only show once in a while.

I think my update message shows up once a quarter on my 340, I just hit ok and I'm good for another 4 months.

If I were to get a new GPS I would get one with lifetime maps for sure.

Re:Old Maps message

I feel the same way. I don't need an update at this time. So ignore it and get on with your life.

Live with it

Annoying but it's not going kill you.

Are they ever new?

A few years ago we had a major interstate repair that lasted for a couple of years. Although the repair was submitted to Garmin and Navtech multiple times, the Garmin GPS still wanted to route you through the middle of the construction site!!! Now we are having a major bridge repaired that should last a 2 years. The bridge is on a major route. This closure has also been reported to Garmin and Navtech multiple times, but nothing has been updated. Thank goodness we live here and know about the construction. Otherwise we would be routed through it and not around it!

I figure that it will be two

I figure that it will be two or three years before the new bridge and ramps being built to replace an old bridge actually make their way into Navteq's maps. I notified them two years ago that a road nearby was no longer a throughway but a dead end. I provided coordinates, and it still hasn't changed.

Google at least acknowledges that I was right when I made the change to them. It will likely be another month before they change the map, but that's a lot faster than Navteq.

Navteq is definitely...

...SLOW. They take their time on everything they do. I've reported changes to them and they may get around to it in 18-24 months. You would think they could be quicker than that.

I would think..

that there is some way to cancel notifications. On my older Nuvi 330, the outdate message seems to have just stopped appearing.

sounds like someone needs to tell Garmin that "your map is too old".

Never

I have had four different Garmin GPS's and have never seen what you are saying. My latest one 2450LM has lifetime maps...

.

I used to get the pop-up on my 775 for the Euro maps. Haven't seen it in ages now. But, now that I've said that... wink

it is a really good feature for people to be able to input local road closings, etc and share them with the TT community!
