Ii have a GPX file created by EPE. (Great Product). Every time I try to load it POILoader errors off. Mapsource does too. No indication of what the error is. Anyone have any ideas? There are only 70 records in the file.
you are missing a field
Either one of your options is set wrong or you are missing an element. As there are only 70 of them, display each using the edit screen in EPE. It will be obvious as to the problem.
Illiterate? Write for free help.
more info needed
What versions of the two softwares are you using?
Describe in more detail what happens when "Poi Loader errors off".

Using EPE save the file as a Garmin csv file.Open it up and see if you can spot any problems with the file.

EPE 4.88 POILoader 2.6.1.0

"There was an unexpected error during the creation of the custom POI file." is the message I get back. Sounds like Garmin hired some people who used to support Winders. The message is accurate but useless.
Split
I split the file in half to see where the error was. Both halves had the problem.
I went back to an older version of the file and made the changes again. This time it loaded ok.
Still would like to know what caused the problem.

You could try halfing the problem gpx file until the problem stops occuring and then post a notepad text version of the smallest gpx file that last still had a problem.
See above.

I did just that. Both still had the problem. That is what has me puzzled still.

I meant to half one that had already been halfed. Then half that one and the next one etc.
Or select five at a time for separate files until you can narrow it down to a few poi.
Either that or you could post a link to your gpx file and let others look at it.
One way to do that is to use File Dropper

Once you upload the file, post a link to it like this:

UTF-8?
I recall some people having issues if the EPE preferences for GPX files were not set to 'UTF-8'.
Options > Preferences > GPX Output > Encoding- set it to UTF-8 and give it a try.
It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.
Maybe an easier way?
There may be an easier way to see where your problem is, by using XML Notepad. I was reminded of this method while finding an error in another file in this post.
The GPX format has a definition that can be used to validate each document and XML Notepad does that when you open it. It will display any errors it finds at the bottom and you can double-click the error to go directly to the entry and correct it. It also tells you what the XML error is.
In the other thread you'll see that it seems EPE (and csv) don't catch all variations of badly formatted longitude/latitude entries while Mapsource & POILoader do, but don't give good descriptions of the error.

Thanks for the info. I just now downloaded it and will start using it.

There are far better editors though, depending on the XML variant. But XML Notepad comes in handy when you need to see the strict XML interpretation, etc.

Tried this. It is in the header description. Went back to an old file. We are good now. Still don't know where it went bad and am not going to worry any more unless it happens again.
Thanks to all.

I had the same problem. In my case I linked to an Icon file. The problem was that I had previously linked the file to another Icon file that was in directory that was no longer in use. Click on the down arrow at the right side of Link, scroll down and see if you have more than one file shown. It's likely possible that you can link to an icon and a sound file, but there could be two or more conflicting files.
Once I eliminated all references to the the non existent files, it loaded fine.

If it happens again...

Be sure to email me if you have the problem again. I would not like EPE to cause problems.

Don't think it is EPE.

I don't think it was EPE. I have been using it for several years. Nothing special in the file. No known links to icons of any kind. I will email you the file so you can look into why it was passing the bad info on.
Elevation is bad...
