Tom Tom .OV2 File

Looking for assistance. I just down loaded a updated "Diners Drive-Ins and Dives" file .OV2 format to my Tom Tom device folder as I have in the past. I saved the new file in the "USA and Canada" folder. It looked like ny device was "updating". I disconnected the Tom Tom from the computer and can access any catagory "Point of Interst" and I can see the Diners Drive-Ins and Dives icon. However when I select the Icon the device says "No POI Found". I successfully added several other categories from this web site and they work great. What am I missing?

The OV2 files are not quite right

There are a couple of issues with the OV2 files on this site. I have researched the file format and reported my findings to the maintainers of the site. They are working on a correction.

For the time being, I have reverted to manipulating them myself. I have old tools from TomTom (dumpOV2 and makeOV2) that I can use to get an ASCII list of the OV2 file, then convert it to a proper OV2 file. It can also make an OV2 file from a CSV file.

Search for makeOV2 and you should be able to find it. Not sure if TomTom still provides the tool. Their tech support just pointed me to the TomTom Home application for all my POI needs.

Tom Tom OV2 Files

Thank you for the suggestions. I went to http://tomtom.gps-data-team.com/poi/csv2ov2.php
and converted a CSV file from this POI site for "Diners Drive-Ins and Dives" into OV2 (very simple proces) then loaded it into my Tom Tom and it works perfectly.

I have never had a problem converting any Poi Factory

files to ov2 using PoiEdit.

Most likely because>>>

none of the locations were near enough to your then current location to hit the screen. I bet if you typed in a city where one was located for sure it would pop right up...JM2C, YMMV

Been playing a lot with my 340 s XL of late and this situation is one of the quirks I have found.

Extra_POI_Editor

You can also use Extra_POI_Editor to convert between different POI file formats. If you have problem with OV2 files, you can also try to open them in Extra_POI_Editor and save them back to OV2. That may help in clearing the problem.

EPE can be found here (see the link in first the post):
