Jersey City to catch drivers running red lights on newly installed security cameras

Jersey City has installed security cameras at the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Communipaw Avenue to catch drivers running red lights, The Jersey Journal reports.

Though the cameras went up on Thursday, there will be a 30-day "warning period" before fines will be issued. A motorist who runs a red light will be hit with an $85 fine.

Jersey City has applied to the state Department of Transportation to install more red-light cameras at other intersections, according to Charles Callari, regional director for American Traffic Solutions.
