Nuvi 1390t Accuracy vs. Google Maps

This subject has probably been beat to death... I will apologize upfront if it has... I just purchased the nuvi 1390t about a week ago. I still have my 255w which is a great unit... in fact, I love all my nuvi's.
I noticed on my new 1390t that my home address shows up about 8 houses down from the actual address when it is entered on the unit itself. My 255w was about 4 houses down so it has gotten a bit worse. NOW... I downloaded directions from Google Maps and it takes me right to my front door... in fact... everything I have sent from Google Maps is pretty well spot on.
What's up with that? Really more curious than anything else. From my standpoint... if I can do some preliminary planning Google Maps is a lot quicker on a full keyboard with the PC.
Cheers,
Ronnie
ah!
In Google (downloaded directions) there is no GPS involved only address and mapping, in the Nuvi you have address, mapping, GPSr and bird reception to contend with.

So why does google maps work so well on my smartphone?
Who knows

The OP didn't make a mention of smartphone.

Thanks flaco... I still find it a bit strange. I know they cannot be 100%... but I can tell you I will use Google Maps as much as possible. Especially when I need to be ask accurate as possible getting to a location.
Cheers...

Dyslexic Cartography
I noticed that on my Garmin 255 my home address kept showing up 5 or 6 houses off. I checked and discovered that whoever programmed the addresses for my street reversed the house numbers.
The addresses were programmed with the low numbers on the east end of the street and the higher numbers on the west end. In reality, the houses on my street are numbered west to east. Other streets in the neighborhood were correct.
I reported the error to Garmin. Garmin cartography sent an e-mail saying they "passed the info along to our data supplier." Hopefully, it will show up in an update sometime this year so that my map address will be much closer to my actual address.

Google can when Nuvi can't
Too many times I've relied on my Nuvi 265 to find something that it can't and Google maps can. I use the Nuvi extensively as I travel in unfamiliar areas but I also use Google maps as a backup.
Civilian GPS satellites are
Civilian GPS satellites are not exact. They can be off by a few hundred feet. This would cause no problem in getting one to where they need to go but may not bring you to an exact house number - but you will get real close so that you can look and find the number you need. Only military GPS is spot on the location.

As a matter of Fact or Opinion
Military GPS is not exact. Only Political GPS systems are exact, perfect, unquestionable, and all that other god like stuff.
Dang it, my wife told me not to get political today, or any other day for that matter.
Map Accuracy vs GPS Accuracy
I believe the OP's question relates only to the accuracy of the map data -- it has nothing to do with the GPS accuracy. The thread seems to have migrated totally off topic.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
