Garmin Safety Camera Software Not Worth It (Central Florida)

I tried the free 30 day trial of the Garmin Safety Camera software on a nuvi I am considering buying used from a friend. The only reason I'm buying the unit is for red light and speed zone camera enforcement. They are being installed everywhere here in Florida.

Needless to say, Garmin's is absolutely worthless for the cameras here in central Florida. The alert only worked when I turned near an intersection with a camera, not ever when I approached one! I drove around numerous intersections in Lakeland and St. Petersburg and it was the same. Worthless!

I'm glad I didn't spend the money and came here instead. This site's red light camera alert is spot on and flawless. I bought the one month trial to see if it worked; it did, and I paid my friend for the used unit and will certainly get the full POI Factory download.

POI's camera alert is exactly what I was looking for.

We are the best

Welcome to the site. It is the best for everything including the red light and camera file. You will find the site addictive so be careful.

I don't know about Lakeland, but St.Petersburg hasn't installed their red light cameras yet.In and article in the St.Petersburg Times about 30 or 45 days ago the city said it could be 30 to 60 days if they use existing equipment if not up to 6 monts or more. Gulfport and Pasadena have them though.Glad you are here this is a very helpful site.

Thanks everyone. I should

Thanks everyone. I should have been more specific about Gulfport and Pasadena. I tend to lump all of those Pinellas municipalities into one general location (St. Pete). I was just over there yesterday to go fishing at Fort DeSoto and was driving around all over the place there. Like I said the Garmin update was absolutely worthless. Last night when I got back, I downloaded the update from here and drove around Lakeland and it was spot on.

I"m heading back over to Pinellas to go fishing again tomorrow. I'll test out my (Garmin) with this site's red light camera software just for kicks over there again, but I'm confident I'll be more than satisfied.

Now I just gotta figure out how to upload a custom sound file instead of the beep tone alert. I'm thinking the Star Trek computer "Warning!" sound would be just perfect. Maybe the Captain's "Alarm" sound from the movie Das Boot would be good too. LOL

Good thing I've got high end sound recording software and computers. I'll have some fun with this. LOL

Make sure

Make sure you get the correct file. Depending on the unit it could be either mp3 or wav

pwohlrab--Thanks, I've

pwohlrab--Thanks, I've already determined I have an mp3 capable unit. I've already recorded my own sound files and tweaked them in Audacity and Garage Band.

Should I offer them up on this site for fellow movie and Sci Fi geeks like myself? LOL

Here's the link
