Update 5.0 to 1490

I did my weekly speed/redlight camera POI update and also checked Garmin WebUpdater. There is an update v. 5.0 to the system software.

No research volunteering is involved. Check the issues which were fixed in this release here:

And if you always wanted to locate that kosher McDonald’s in Israel but weren’t able to, wanted to avoid those KGB cameras in Russia, or wanted to be finally able to properly pronounce Champs-Élysées in French – then by all means upgrade without any risk involved. Otherwise your 4.90 will serve you just as well.

Unbelievable

Can you believe how many issues and problems these units have? It sounds to me like they have no quality control. Get them out and fix them later must be there way of operating.

Thanks for the link. I like the last one on the list, improved stability. Too often my unit reboots on its own, or goes for minutes at a time with blank or partially drawn screens. From a dedicated GPS unit that is not satisfactory.

Right. The last time I

Right. The last time I upgraded, the 1490 was not as stable as before. It started to forget to connect my iphone to bluetooth and phonebook was slow to load. I'll wait a little longer.
