nuvi 1300 missing extra info in GPX files

Help Please. I use and love GeePeeEx editor to create GPX files. Just purchased a Nuvi 1300, and NONE of my custom poi’s have the added line of information in either the custom poi list or in my recently found list. (I am talking about the extra line of description that show up in the list of poi’s or recently found) The info I type into the 1st address line of GeePeeEx all shows up in the balloon of the 1300 after I select it, but not on the initial page that lists 4 or 5 poi’s to choose from. All of the factory installed poi’s DO have the added line, but not the ones I have built. Garmin tech support says it’s the “third party software” and not their problem. I have tried putting the info I want in the “extended description” in the first line of the address field in GeePeeEx, which has always worked and still does on my nuvi 750. I have tried quotation marks in the first and second line of the address field. I also tried single quotes. None of it seems to work. I know it is the way the Nuvi is reading the data because I have also tried Extra_poi_editor, and it give me the exact same results. I have also tried different versions of poi loader (2.5 and 2.6) to no avail. I sure do hope I have been clear, and that maybe someone has some thoughts on how to get this extra line of info to show up. Thank you all in advance.

Can you post at least one of

Can you post at least one of the custom poi lines so we can look at it for problems?

I'm sorry, but i don't

I'm sorry, but i don't exactly understand. Should i try to post a picture of the garmin screen i'm questioning on the 1300, or a picture of the entry i've made in GeePeeEx editor? not exatly sure how, but i will try to get them posted if that's what you need to help me.
thanks

what happens

What happens if you load a GPX file from here? Do you get the extra line on the display? Tell us which file you used to test so we can try to duplicate the problem.

i just downloaded

i just downloaded dinersdrive-insdives.gpx. it shows 2 lines of info for every listing on my 750, but the second line is missing on every entry in my 1300. Exactly the same behavior as with all my custom files.

Here is a link to a picture

Here is a link to a picture that shows what i am talking about since i may not be clear above. exact same file loaded into 750(top) and 1300(bottom)
thanks.

OK - that tells us it's a 1300 problem

That let's us know it's a problem with the way the 1300 processes GPX files and not necessarily a problem with the files themselves.

While it probably won't be fixed anytime soon, I would take the time to file a written software bug report to Garmin. You can submit a single entry GPX file on your report sent to Customer support. Just open the GPX with a text editor like Notepad and do a copy and paste into your message to Garmin. Be certain you tell them which version of POI Loader you are using along with the software versions on your 1300.

.

Yet another case of sloppy coding by Garmin. I doubt they will address the problem since it involves third party POI's.

I think the problem

I don't think it's about 3rd party POI as it is correctly supporting their GPX file format. The files here are all written using the standard GPX XML code with the GARMIN extensions.

And the csv format should be able to support commas, but we all know how thats turned out with the newest POI Loader!!

From Garmin's perspective their own built in POI's work correctly. The problem only affects custom built POI's. So don't be surprised when Garmin says its not their problem.

Gpx file

Try this using notepad and Extra Poi Editor and see if you get same results.Using example below to match your data.

92.395,34.72804,Cracker Barrel,"100 East St, Nowhere, Texas 78251, 858-000-0000"
This will allow the information to go into correct fields for Extra Poi Editor.
(Repeat for each line of data.)
3) Go to top of Notepad page and click on file, save as, put the file name in and add period then type csv.
Example:
Cracker Barrel.csv
4) Click save and you should now have a csv file.

Now before opening the file up in Extra Poi Editor.Click on options for EPE and click on M-Columns CSV fields.Make sure column 1 longitude, column 2 laitude, column 3 Poi name and column 4 address, city, state postcode phone. Now open the csv file up in EPE and save as Garmin gpx.
